Holiday decorating winners

Thank you to everyone in the neighborhood who made our neighborhood more festive with holiday lights!  There were 154 homes in Eagle Nest who decorated their homes with lights and other decorations!   It was terribly difficult for the judges to choose, but the winner was the home of Brian and Brandy Schneider who live at 8331 Mockingbird Lane. The Schneiders received a $25 gift card from Target.  Second place honors went to the Hardie home at 7509 Teel Way.  Third place was the Schwegman home at 7816 Mallard Way; fourth place was the Schafer home at 8231 Osprey Ct.; and fifth place honors goes to the Kendall home at 8340 Heron.      Again thanks to all our residents that helped make our neighborhood look brighter during the holiday season.

Holiday electronics recycling event Jan. 12

The holidays mean gifts -- and for many that means electronics. That usually also means "out with the old, in with the new." But a new state law prohibits disposal of electronics at the curbside, forcing residents to seek other ways to get rid of their old TVs, computer equipment, stereos, phones, DVD players, etc. On Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, the City of Indianapolis will partner with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful to sponsor the 7th Annual Post Holiday Recycling Event. Drop-off is free. The following materials are accepted for recycling: > Live holiday trees: all lights, ornaments and decorations removed > Electronics: anything with a cord > Cardboard > White molded foam packaging The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the following sites: > Broad Ripple Park - Main entrance > Ellenberger Park - Irvington, pool parking lot > Krannert Park - 605 S. High School Road > Garfield Park - Arts Center parking lot Questions? Contact Noelle Mal

Christmas lights stolen from Teel Way home

About 10 strands of blue Christmas lights were taken late last month from the front bushes of a home in the 7800 block of Teel Way. The lights were taken during the evening sometime between Monday, Nov. 26, and Wednesday, Nov.28, ENPOA's crime watch coordinator reports. If found, call Angie at (317) 408-4021 Residents are encouraged to call police -- dial 911 -- if they see any suspicious activity or vehicles. If the latter, be sure to get a license plate numbers and description for police.

Crime prevention presentation at Clubhouse; county officials offer tips

A handful of Eagle Nest residents gathered at the Clubhouse on Nov. 7 to hear two Marion County deputy prosecutors share their property crime prevention tips. Daphne Whitmire and Amie Martens are part of the Multi-jurisdictional Offender Strategy Team (MOST), which encourages Marion County residents to proactively prevent crime, particularly through landscaping and marking or engraving possessions. Whitmire and Martens showed slides of homes with good and bad landscaping and lighting. Attendees   signed up for an invisible pen to mark their possessions, and they registered for a special code for their possessions that could be identified if stolen. Attending residents also received a sticker to put on their front door noting that their possessions were coded. Whitmire and Martens also advised residents that the p rosecuter’s office has an engraving machine that neighborhoods can use. Both deputy prosecutors emphasized that the best crime prevention was knowing y

Indy leaf collection runs Nov. 5-30

This year’s leaf collection program runs Monday, Nov. 5, to Monday, Nov. 30. Each Eagle Nest resident is permitted up to 40 bags for free disposal. Collection days are every Monday through the end of the month. Other key details, according to the Department of Public Works: > Place the leaf bags out by 7 a.m. on your regular trash day. > Separate your leaf pick-up from your regular trash. For example, put leaves on opposite side of driveway or use different colored bags and/or tie wraps.  > Keep leaf bags at least three feet away from cart collection areas so DPW trucks can service the cart. > Make sure sewer inlets and drainage pipes are clear of leaves to avoid drainage problems. Check out the following handy link for more information: YouTube video link (basic public service announcement, along with composting tips): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEnkWcxxyv0&feature=youtu.be City of Indianapolis website (basic info about leaf program) htt

Eagle Nest resident seeks witnesses in car accident

Fellow Eagle Nest residents, On the morning of Sept. 21, while on her way to work, a Teel Way neighbor was hit by a woman running the turn light at 71st and Shadeland. Our Teel Way neighbor was stopped and when the light turned green she headed through the intersection and was hit. Apparently, the other driver is disputing that sequence of events. Unfortunately, no witnesses stopped to assist and as a result it's one word against another. Our Teel Way neighbor recently wrote, "I was hoping we might be able to put a little entry on the site to see if any of neighbors were traveling the intersection around 7:50 a.m.-8 a.m. that morning and saw what happened. I am desperate to prove she was at fault. I have never had a claim on my insurance and don't want to be blamed for something I was not in control of." If you saw what happened or have information about the Sept. 21 incident, please contact blog editor Scott Thien at scottthien@comcast.net and he'll r

Do you want to meet Mayor Greg Ballard?

Got a gripe for Mayor Greg Ballard? Want to hear what his administration has planned for the Northeastside, and how Eagle Nest could be affected? Make plans to attend the 48th annual Mayor's Night Out, an opportunity to meet Ballard and key city representatives responsible for roads, crime and fire prevention, public works, etc. The event will be Thursday, Oct. 11, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Heritage Christian School, 6401 E. 75th Street. The event will be in the school's Fine Arts Building (look for the large HCS cross logo on the building). The event is free and open to the public. This is a great opportunity for Eagle Nest residents to hear area residents' questions and concerns, as well as share their own. The event also is a great way to meet the city officials directly responsible for running the various municipal departments that we all depend on -- and to bend their ears on what we as a neighborhood need and would like. Among topics sure to be discussed are the planned

Eagle Nest pool closes this weekend

Sad to see summer go? Jump in the Eagle Nest pool one last time this weekend before our pool staff closes up the facility for the season. The pool will be open both Saturday and Sunday, from noon to 6 p.m. Pool manager Susan Anderson will have the heater on, so the water should be comfortable. Depending on whose local forecast you believe, temperatures are expected to be in the low to mid-70s -- with Sunday being the warmest. While you're there, be sure to thank the lifeguards for their excellent service this season.

No trash pickup on Monday, Labor Day

The following is from a news release by Noelle Malatestinic (Cell: 317.408.1991), Eagle Nest liaison to Mayor Greg Ballard's office for the Northeastside/City of Indianapolis: "This is a friendly reminder that there will be NO residential trash, heavy trash, or curbside recycling service on Monday, September 3, in observance of Labor Day. All routes will run one day behind as a result. Monday’s routes will run on Tuesday, Tuesday’s routes will run on Wednesday, and so on, with Friday routes being run on Saturday, September 8. All routes will return to normal schedules on Monday, September 11."

Burglars strike two Eagle Nest houses during daylight

On Friday, Aug. 24, two burglaries were reported in our neighborhood, according to our Eagle Nest Crime Watch Coordinator, per information provided by the BRAG Crime Watch. The first burglary happened between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. at a house in the 7700 block of Mallard Way.  According the the homeowner, an implement was used to pry open the front door, breaking both the deadbolt and regular front door lock.Jewelry and cash was taken.   A second burglary was reported in the 7800 block of Tanager. It appears the same method of entry was used. It wasn't immediately know what items were taken.   The incidents come on the heels of several other recent burglaries in nearby neighborhoods: Devonshire -- burglary in the 6800 block of Canberra Circle (71st and Creekside Lane).  East Avalon Hills -- burglary (jewelry) in the 7200 block of Eastwick Lane (71st/Shadeland). Lake Castleton Apartments -- burglary in the 7700 block of Newport Way. Castlebrook -- burglary about 3

Eagle Nest pool revises hours of operation through September

The Eagle Nest pool has adjusted hours for the rest of the 2012 season. Daily hours of operation are 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday through Labor Day. Weekend hours remain the same, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. The last half hour of each day may be reserved for adult swim, depending on need and lifeguards' ruling. After Labor Day, the pool will only be open weekends through the end of the month and operating on the regular weekend schedule. The pool will close on Sunday, Sept. 30. Questions/concerns/suggestions/compliments? Call Pool Manager Susan Anderson at 371-4275 or email her at sbkmtanderson@att.net Susan and her lifeguard crew have done an outstanding job this year maintaining the facility and ensuring the safety of our neighborhood's swimmers. Please be sure to thank them for their services in these waning days of summer!

Burglary reported in Copperfield neighborhood near Eagle Nest

According to the BRAG Crime Watch Coordinator, a break-in was reported in the afternoon of Sunday, Aug. 12, in the Copperfield neighborhood, which is immediately south of Eagle Nest. The targeted home was on Micawber Circle (the house backs up to Hague Road). According to BRAG, the resident left to go to the store about 1:30 p.m. that afternoon. While she was gone burglars had broken in and stolen her TV, jewelry and some credit cards. When the resident returned, she noticed that her side door leading into her garage was open. The burglary happened while neighbors were home and some even were outside working in their yards. This incident is a reminder to all Eagle Nest residents to keep a watchful eye on your property and those around you. Thankfully, Eagle Nest has been relatively immune to criminal activity over the years, but this incident shows it literally is in our backyard. If you see anything suspicious, do not hesitate to call police at 911 To track real-time police

Atempted car break-in reported in driveway on Sandpiper Court

Thankfully, Eagle Nest is relatively immune to the crime that occurs in many neighborhoods throughout Indianapolis. The ENPOA board attributes this to the watchful eyes and constant vigilance of our residents. Unfortunately, incidents do occur. On the night of Aug. 6/early morning of Aug. 7, someone tried to break into a locked car parked in a driveway on Sandpiper Court. The car's window trim had been pried back, but the break-in was not successful, according to our Crime Watch coordinators. If you must leave your car in your driveway, residents are reminded to keep garage door openers and other valuables out of sight. Had this break-in been successful, the garage door opener would have provided access to the garage and possibly into the house. On July 9, a residential burglary was reported in the 7900 block of Teel Way, according to www.IndyStar.com/911   The crime was reported to police at 5:44 p.m. No other details are available. At least three break-ins were

Eagle Nest resident recovers lost dog after blog posting

Image
Have you seen this dog? Somebody in our neighborhood did -- and thanks to your handy Eagle Nest blog the lost pet has returned home to its owners. Last week, Eagle Nest resident (and former longtime Secretary) Terry Siegel sent a message thanking the board for posting an item about Maggie, her 25-pound Boston Terrier who apparently got out recently and was AWOL: "Hi ... Guess what?  The dog has been found! A neighbor saw the post on the blog site and knew a neighbor in Copperfield who had found a dog last week.  It was Maggie!  Thanks so much for posting!" Thanks to Eagle Nest blog postings, this is the second lost pet (see July 11 posting) that has found a home in our neighborhood. Please keep that in mind the next time you see a lost animal or discover yours is missing. The Eagle Nest blog stands ready to assist!

Annual Eagle Nest neighborhood Pool Party set for Sunday, Aug. 5

The annual Eagle Nest neighborhood Pool Party is set for Sunday, Aug. 5, from noon - 4 p.m. Because Summer Olympic Games will be in full swing, our theme will be, you guessed it ... the Olympics! Our wonderful lifeguard staff will have games for all the kids, and the adults will enjoy food, drink, and fellowship in the Clubhouse. Admittance is free. The board of the Eagle Nest Property Owners Association will provide FREE fried chicken (a first for the pool party) and beverages (lemonade and bottled waster for the kids; beer for those 21 and older.) We are asking every family attending to pitch-in a side dish of some kind. Not a swimmer? Come join the fun anyway, meet fellow residents from all corners of the neighborhood and win a prize just for attending. There will be a surprise activity from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. for special prizes, too. Interested in helping? Call ENPOA director Alice Miley at 842-7901. We would appreciate some help. Abandoned cat adopted by Eagle Nest residents

Image
Thanks to the Wollen family on Goldfinch Circle, this recently abandoned female calico kitten found in Eagle Nest now has a new home.   According to former ENPOA President Harry Riebe, who found the 9-month-old animal a few weeks ago, the Wollens are thrilled with their new family member after having recently lost their pet dog. Harry said he and his wife found the cat a few weeks ago near their home and had it examined by a vet and vaccinated. The animal was in perfect health and free of parasites and fleas, the vet said. Even better, the cat is box trained, extremely friendly and -- believe it or not -- responded to the word "no." If you find a lost or abandoned animal, please send an email to blog editor Scott Thien at scottthien@comcast.net to get something posted on this neighborhood site.

Want to build a fence or mini-barn? Call Rules & Restrictions Committee first

The board of Eagle Nest Property Owners Association would like to remind homeowners that all home improvements or construction projects (i.e. decks, fences, mini-barns, room additions, etc.) must receive written approval from the Rules and Restrictions Committee BEFORE work begins. All homeowners received copies of ENPOA's Declarations of Restrictions upon purchase of their property. Your mortgage company or deed holder should have copies. Hard copies are available from the ENPOA office, too. To underscore the board's role and right to administer such matters, following is a passage from ENPOA's Declarations of Restrictions, approved and filed Sept. 21, 1973, and amended in part Dec. 15, 1993. From Section 7, titled "Eagle Nest Development Control Committee," Subsection A, subtitled "Powers of Committee": (i) Generally, No dwelling, building structure or improvement of any type of kind shall be constructed or placed on any lot in the Development w

Car vandalized on Bittern Lane

An ENPOA Crime Watch Alert, sent to subscribing residents this week: "Today, June 27, someone egged a car parked in a driveway on Bittern Lane. Raw eggs were thrown at the car (windshield) sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Please be alert to any suspicious activity. If you see someone vandalizing property, please report it" to police by calling 911. Fortunately, Eagle Nest has relatively little crime activity compared to surrounding neighborhoods, but our area is not immune. A list of recent area crime is posted here (Highlights only, not a complete police log): http://eaglenestindy.blogspot.com/p/service-recommendations.html

So what if I lose my pool pass?

Luckily, replacement pool tags and guest passes are available to Eagle Nest residents for a nominal charge. During this month's board meeting, directors voted to charge residents $1.50 for each tag replaced, and $10 for each new guest pass issued. Passes are good for five visits each. The board is compelled to charge such rates because of continued maintenance costs and the strain on neighborhood resources by non-resident pool guests. Such replacement costs also help ensure that we keep annual dues in check. If a resident repeatedly seeks replacement tags, the board reserves the right to raise prices at any time. Suffice to say, residents should encourage their children to keep the tags in a safe place (in a wallet, purse or key ring) when in use. All pool users must present a tag or guest pass when entering the pool; those who don't will be denied access. More info about pool rules is available at this link: http://eaglenestindy.blogspot.com/p/pool.html Want replacem

Eagle Nest elects president, two new directors to the board

Image
Directors are elected to 2-year terms. The Eagle Nest Property Owners Association has a new president and two new directors on its board. During last week's monthly ENPOA meeting, the board elected Jason Herche as president. Jason, a first-term director who spearheaded this year's pool tags and directory, replaced outgoing President Don Rosen, a longtime director who previously served as vice president. Don was instrumental in leading several key initiatives to protect and enhance the neighborhood, including the installation of security cameras at the Clubhouse, formulating a 10-year budget plan, jump-starting a neighborhood risk assessment, and improving board efficiencies, among other things. Don, who has lived in the neighborhood since its creation, has been a fountain of institutional knowledge and the neighborhood's leading expert on the covenants, by-laws and articles of incorporation. The board gave Don a $75 restaurant gift certificate as a t

Board members seek re-election June 20; read their bios, goals, get ballot info

On Wednesday, June 20, the Eagle Nest Property Owners Association will conduct an election to fill four director positions. At this time, only two candidates have stepped forward, both current board members seeking re-election: Angie Obergfell and Scott Thien. Watch your front door this weekend for a paper ballot with the names of candidates and spaces to write in the names of two more nominees. Simply fill it out and deposit in the secure street mailbox in front of the Eagle Nest clubhouse by Wednesday. Better yet, attend Wednesday's meeting at the clubhouse and cast your vote in person. You can even nominate yourself! The meeting starts at 7 p.m.; ballot counting will begin shortly thereafter. Following are bios and platform information provided by Angie and Scott: Angie Obergfell, director, 7901 Teel Way: “I am a current board member and my first term will be expiring shortly.  I would like to continue assisting on the board and ask for your vote. “I have li

Crime watch alert: Forced entry, robbery thwarted in Hunter's Ridge

A resident in Hunter's Ridge, north of 86th Street between Hague and Sargeant Road, recently was the victim of a forced entry and attempted robbery. The following BRAG Crime Watch Alert was posted June 8, 2012, and forwarded to area neighborhood associations: "Early morning on Friday of last week (6/1/12), I was alone at home and still in bed. The door bell rang but as a rule, I don't answer the door to strangers or solicitors. I then heard what sounded like my husband coming home early from a trip and thought he had rang the bell to alert me. The noises were loud but just sounded like him bringing in luggage and a metal case he carries. Then, to my surprise, a stranger walked into my bedroom carrying what looked like a clip board or small flat case. Not noticing me, he crossed to my side of the bed and opened my jewelery box. When I stirred he turned and faced me. Luckily he was so startled that he ran back out the front door. He had used a small crowbar to

Board elections soon -- want to run?

A reminder that several board positions are up for re-election this month, and that the Eagle Nest board is accepting nominations for candidates now. If you are interested in running for the board, please send an email to scottthien@comcast.net and include the following information: your name; address; lot number; current occupation; short bio (a few sentences); your "platform" or reason for running. Your information will be published on this site in order for residents to consider your qualifications.    All you need to do is attend the board's monthly neighborhood association meetings at the clubhouse to help conduct business. The meetings usually last about one to two hours. That's it. What do you get in return? First, your neighborhood dues are waived for the length of your two-year term. Last year, that was a $390 value! Second, you will have a direct say in neighborhood decision-making and spending. Third, you'll have the satisfaction of knowing t

A word (or two) about pool tag rules

The opening weekend for the Eagle Nest pool was a success! Aside from a few minor mixups on pool tags (some residents forgot to indicate a specific number, while others were accidental casualties of outdated neighborhood records), dozens of homeowners and their families turned out Memorial Day weekend to swim. The weather was great, and the pool never looked better (thanks to a great job by pool manager Susan Anderson and her lifeguard crew!) A reminder, however, that every pool patron must have a pool tag to enter the pool area or swim. Your Eagle Nest board has instructed Susan Anderson and her crew to enforce this rule, without exception. Don't blame then if they turn you away because you don't have the required tag. Why so strict? Pool admittance has gotten a bit lax in recent years, and that invites unwanted patrons. Further, a fair chunk our neighborhood association dues goes toward the maintenance and staffing of the pool and clubhouse -- amenities intended solely

Eagle Nest directories are here!

Image
All residents are welcome to a free directory. That's right -- new and improved Eagle Nest resident directories are ready for pickup. They are free, too! In order to contain costs and save postage (and thereby avoid raising neighborhood dues!), directories will be distributed at the Eagle Nest clubhouse from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. this weekend (Saturday, June 2, and Sunday, June 3). Simply look for Secretary/Bookkeeper Chris'e Van Meter, who will be on hand to pass them out. After that, we'll be using block captains and volunteers to pass out the remaining directories (about one-third have been distributed so far). Every Eagle Nest property owner is eligible to receive one (one per household, please). Your board is proud of this year's end result, too: about 60 pages of info, organized by lot number and alphabetically, with detailed maps of each block and even thumbnail images of the birds used to name our streets. We've noted a few minor corrections for next ye

April board minutes are posted

Well, better late than never -- your friendly blog site editor blames his overgrown backyard for the delay in posting -- minutes from the April 18 ENPOA board meeting are posted. To read them, click on the "board minutes" toggle on the right side. And speaking of board meetings, check out the previous blog posting on the upcoming ENPOA board elections: http://eaglenestindy.blogspot.com/2012/05/eagle-nest-board-elections-in-june.html Four positions are open, and we need candidates! Please plan to join us at the next board meeting June 20 at 7 p.m. at the Eagle Nest Clubhouse.

Four director openings will be available, two of which are positions currently held by director Angie Obergfell and vice president Scott Thien. Both Angie and Scott plan to run again. The third director position was vacated by Chris'e Van Meter, who resigned to assume secretary/bookeeper duties. The fourth position being vacated is held by current board president Don Rosen, who is stepping down after three terms on the board. Vice President Scott Thien plans to run for the office of president. Eagle Nest forms social committee

Image
Meet your Eagle Nest Social Committee: co-directors Tina Kappes (left) and Angela Corkwell. Both residents answered the recent blog call for volunteers to create and coordinate neighborhood events for all homeowners to enjoy. To help them get off to a great start, the Eagle Nest board voted to approve $1,000 for food, supplies, promotional materials and other misc. needs. Both are full-time working mothers but are willing to carve out some time on behalf of the neighborhood. Tina has lived in Eagle Nest for four years, and Angela has been in the neighborhood for the past seven years. Among ideas they discussed and proposed at the May 16 ENPOA board meeting were a continuation of the Family Fun Day at the pool, an ice cream social, an Easter party and a Halloween event. But they can't do it alone. If you have time and ideas, they would love to hear from you. Contact Tina via email at Tina.Kappes@atlanticrelocation.com, and contact Angela at angelacorkwell@yahoo.com. Eagle Nest residents must show identification in order to receive passes; no proxies can obtain passes. A new Eagle Nest neighborhood directory also will be provided at that time (Thanks to board member Jason Herche for all his hard work in putting the directory together!). Only residents in good standing (translation: those who have paid their association dues) may obtain pool passes. If you're an Eagle Nest resident reported to our lawyer for collection, you must provide documentation that your dues were paid before receiving your passes. Pool manager Susan Anderson says it&

ENPOA seeks treasurer for neighborhood

The Eagle Nest Property Owners Association has an opening that need immediate filling: Treasurer -- This volunteer position works closely with and reports to the Secretary, and is responsible for keeping the books for neighborhood, checking the secretary's work, processing checks and bills, managing the budget, assisting in tax return preparation and other related duties. The treasurer's role was formerly held by Chris'e Van Meter, who recently resigned to accept the role of Secretary/bookeeper after resident Lynne Burns resigned for personal reasons. Note: Annual neighborhood dues will be waived if the treasurer is elected to the Eagle Nest board. If you are interested, please contact ENPOA vice president Scott Thien at scottthien@comcast.net or by cell, 902-3103.

A word (or two) about garage sales ...

Spring is here (well, at least allergy season is) and that means garage sales will be popping up throughout our neighborhood. A few friendly reminders from the Eagle Nest Property Owners Association board: > No signs shall be affixed to neighborhood lights, utility poles, traffic signs or vehicles. > Signs can be displayed in homeowner yards 24 hours before and on the day of the sale and must be removed promptly when the garage sale is over. > Signs should be set back a minimum of four feet from the street. > Signs shall not restrict the view of a vehicle or pedestrian on any street or intersection of streets within Eagle Nest. > Signs are NOT permitted in the common areas of the entrances at Hague Road, 75th Street and 82nd Street. Only signs approved by Dave Sagers, chairman of Eagle Nest's Restriction and Review Committee, may be placed in these areas. > Residents can only have two garage sales at the same location per calendar year, per municipa

Neighborhood dues: Delinquent accounts turned over to attorney for collection

Thanks to all the homeowners who paid their neighborhood dues by the deadline of March 1. As you know, these funds help keep Eagle Nest one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Indianapolis by providing necessary capital to maintain our clubhouse, pool, snow plowing contract, maintenance of common grounds, etc. For the second year in a row, ENPOA board members have successfully contained neighborhood expenses and avoided a dues increase. As a result, the board granted every resident a one-time credit of $20 this year, a reduction applied to what had been dues bills of $390 in recent years. Unfortunately, about two dozen of our 419 property owners failed to pay their dues on time, resulting in additional late fees and transfer to our attorney for collection. These residents also face additional legal fees incurred in the collection process. If you are among those who haven’t paid yet -- and you didn't make previous payment arrangements -- please do not call Eagle Nest

Got a question, comment or complaint? Email your ENPOA board ...

It's hard to get to know all 419 homeowners of Eagle Nest, so your neighborhood association board welcomes all questions, suggestions, and yes, even complaints, so we can keep our neighborhood one of the most desirable in Indianapolis. Check out the "Key contacts" tab on the right and drop us a line (All emails have been updated). Thanks, neighbor(s)!

Do you know the rules for displaying signs in the neighborhood?

With spring rapidly approaching, signs advertising open houses, school events, contractor work, etc., likely will begin sprouting throughout the neighborhood. But did you know Eagle Nest has a policy about what signs are permitted, where they may be placed and for how long? Our neighborhood has grown a bit lax in recent years in enforcing the policy, so board members wanted to remind all residents about the standards and rules for signs display. To ensure the continued asthetic appeal of Eagle Nest, please review the "Eagle Nest signs policy" posted within the tab at the right. Questions may be directed to Dave Sagers, chairman of the Restriction and Review Commitee, via email at dsagers01@comcast.net Thank you for your attention and cooperation.

ENPOA board revises snow plowing policy

Good news, Eagle Nest residents. The neighborhood has a new snow plowing policy! What’s new: First the first time in years, cul-de-sacs will be included for plowing along with the main streets when snow totals reach 3 inches or more. In the past, residents in the courts had to wait until higher accumulations before they got their streets cleared. The addition of 17 cul-de-sacs to the plowing contract will require more contractor time and expense, of course, so the courts will be approached a little differently. Plows will be instructed to make two passes through the courts, essentially plowing the equivalent of two lanes around the perimeter of the cul-de-sac. Some snow may be pushed into the center (low enough so as not to impede visibility), with the remainder pushed into yards with the most open space or straight out through the main thoroughfares. The board also will review its salting protocols to ensure the exits and neighborhood bus stops are addressed more frequently. W

A word about trash pickup days ...

Sometimes, in the rush to making the neighbohood pickups, the city trash collector will accidentally spill a piece of garbage (or two) or leave trash containers strewn about in the street. Sure, he could be careful, but accidents happen. In an effort to keep our neighborhood clean and well-kept, do your neighbors a favor: Take a moment and pick up any loose, stray garbage and dispose of it properly. And if you see someone's garbage can rolling into the street or their can lids blowing about, recover them and return to the owner's property. Such random acts of kindness will help continue to keep our neighborhood one of the most respected and desirable places to live. Your Eagle Nest Board thanks you ....
