Eagle Nest resident recovers lost dog after blog posting

Have you seen this dog? Somebody in our neighborhood did -- and thanks to your handy Eagle Nest blog the lost pet has returned home to its owners.

Last week, Eagle Nest resident (and former longtime Secretary) Terry Siegel sent a message thanking the board for posting an item about Maggie, her 25-pound Boston Terrier who apparently got out recently and was AWOL:

"Hi ... Guess what?  The dog has been found! A neighbor saw the post on the blog site and knew a neighbor in Copperfield who had found a dog last week.  It was Maggie!  Thanks so much for posting!"

Thanks to Eagle Nest blog postings, this is the second lost pet (see July 11 posting) that has found a home in our neighborhood. Please keep that in mind the next time you see a lost animal or discover yours is missing. The Eagle Nest blog stands ready to assist!

Hello, Eagle Nesters! The Board hopes your spring is off to a great start. It’s hard to believe with all the cold, rainy weather of April that the Pool will be open in barely a month. In preparation for that, it’s time to share a few updates about the 2024 swim season: Nearly a dozen residents turn out to deep clean the Pool A huge thanks goes out to the volunteer team led by Bittern Lane residents John and Cindy Spicklemire for organizing a deep clean of Pool facility on Saturday, April 27. The team of 12 spent hours power washing the chairs to address years of sunblock stains and removing wall grime, while others pulled weeds, cleaned the tables and swept up debris. In return, the Board brought in Jimmy John’s sandwiches, chips and water to keep our cleaning crew fueled up. That was a small price to pay for what would have cost thousands of dollars in labor and time to hire a contractor to do the same work. Board Update: Pool opening and Pool Party, annual dues reminder, new social events team, Hague Road entrance

Memorial Day is coming – and that means Pool season is upon us! We have lots to tell about our opening plans, so here goes: Pool opening: Noon to 8 p.m., Memorial Day, Monday, May 27. Due to scheduling issues with our pool company, it was a scramble to get the facility power washed, cleaned and filled, so the water may be a little cold. Fingers crossed the rain holds off. Pool Party: Noon to 2 p.m. Memorial Day. Free hotdogs, chips, popsicles, lemonade, and beer for the adults. Weather: Given the rainy weather forecast for Monday, watch the blog and Facebook page for updates on postponements or closures. New Pool fobs: All residents in good standing can pick up their new Pool fobs from noon to 8 p.m. Monday. Board members will be set up on the concrete pad outside the gate. Each year, it gets harder and harder to pick the winners in the annual Holiday Lights Contest – and that’s a good thing. It’s so refreshing, uplifting and encouraging to see the spirit of the holidays on full display across the neighborhood, in big ways and small. This year’s panel of judges – a Board member’s relatives visiting from Florida and Belgium (no joke!) – were amazed by the effort so many homeowners put into decorating their lots and homes.
