2021 Holiday Lights Contest: And the winners are ...

Could there be any area neighborhood with more holiday spirit than Eagle Nest? The answer is no, judging by the 100+ homes decorated with all the colorful blinking lights and flashing yard decorations. And that made judging for this year’s Holiday Lights Contest a real challenge. The stakes were big, too: First prize is a $50 gift card (with smaller prizes for second and third place), but more importantly bragging rights as the homeowners with the most holiday spirit. It was a jolly good time during last weekend’s 2nd Annual Santa Neighborhood Drive-Thru. Santa and Mrs. Claus (aka residents Tom and Cindy Corbett) and their elf helper (aka resident Lindsey Dix Holmes) braved the cold weather for several hours making about 50 stops throughout the development. Dozens of families turned out for the candy toss, Santa selfies and plenty of laughs. Thanks go out to all the residents who donated snacks, drinks and cleaning supplies in the Board’s neighborhood drive to support our nearby IMPD substation. Santa was thankful for many homemade cookies handed out by residents, too, as well as the handwritten Christmas wish-list letters from kids — touching proof that the spirit o

They will hit every court and side street along the way, so be ready for his candy toss and fun family photo opportunities! The farther you live from 82nd Street, the later Santa's visit. Last year, his tour took about two hours with all the stops for selfies and family photos. (At this writing, more than two dozen families have requested stops.) But don’t worry – we’ll hit every corner of our development. Want to ensure you're on Santa's list of stops? Email scottthien@comcast.net . We look forward to seeing you this holiday season!
