Public hearing Tuesday on East 82nd Street widening project
The Indianapolis Department of Public Works (DPW) plans a public hearing and open house on Tuesday, July 9, to discuss the proposed 82nd Street widening project. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. at the Abundant Life Church, 7606 E. 82nd St.
The proposal seeks to widen 82nd Street to five lanes (two in each direction, with a middle turning lane) from Hague Road east to Sargeant Road, eventually stretching all the way to Fall Creek Road. It is not clear whether sidewalks are part of the plan, however crosswalks are planned at the entrance of Mary Castle Elementary School.
The public is invited to attend, and interested residents will be allowed 2 minutes each to make public statements about the project. An open house will follow the meeting, allowing residents to meet DPW officials, view displays and ask questions of the project team.
For more information about Tuesday's meeting, email autumn.gasior@indy.gov or call (317) 327-8699.
Given this project affects a key entrance to our neighborhood, all Eagle Nest residents are encouraged to attend.
