Board seeks volunteers for swing/play set committee, replacement ideas

Eagle Nest residents,

A handful of inquiries have come in recently about the future of the neighborhood's aging swing/play set. Here's a quick update:

While there are no plans to replace the equipment this year, the Board has budgeted $500 to repair the swing/play set, as well as replace the mulch that has been washed away/displaced  by our harsh winter. The Board does not have a specific date when the work will be done but the goal is to be ready by Memorial Day weekend.

The good news is our 2015 budget includes substantial funds to replace and relocate the swing/play set. The current location has grown increasingly problematic because of erosion and tree growth. During the 2013 budget meeting, the Board decided it was time to stop flushing away neighborhood funds, so to speak, and spend the money for a more lasting solution.

If you have suggestions about the functionality you would like to see in the new swing/play set (and companies we should consider), please contact resident Kerri Switzer, head of the new Swing/Play Set Committee. Hello, Eagle Nesters! The Board hopes your spring is off to a great start. It’s hard to believe with all the cold, rainy weather of April that the Pool will be open in barely a month. In preparation for that, it’s time to share a few updates about the 2024 swim season: Nearly a dozen residents turn out to deep clean the Pool A huge thanks goes out to the volunteer team led by Bittern Lane residents John and Cindy Spicklemire for organizing a deep clean of Pool facility on Saturday, April 27. The team of 12 spent hours power washing the chairs to address years of sunblock stains and removing wall grime, while others pulled weeds, cleaned the tables and swept up debris. In return, the Board brought in Jimmy John’s sandwiches, chips and water to keep our cleaning crew fueled up. That was a small price to pay for what would have cost thousands of dollars in labor and time to hire a contractor to do the same work. Board Update: Pool opening and Pool Party, annual dues reminder, new social events team, Hague Road entrance

Memorial Day is coming – and that means Pool season is upon us! We have lots to tell about our opening plans, so here goes: Pool opening: Noon to 8 p.m., Memorial Day, Monday, May 27. Due to scheduling issues with our pool company, it was a scramble to get the facility power washed, cleaned and filled, so the water may be a little cold. Fingers crossed the rain holds off. Pool Party: Noon to 2 p.m. Memorial Day. Free hotdogs, chips, popsicles, lemonade, and beer for the adults. Weather: Given the rainy weather forecast for Monday, watch the blog and Facebook page for updates on postponements or closures. New Pool fobs: All residents in good standing can pick up their new Pool fobs from noon to 8 p.m. Monday. Board members will be set up on the concrete pad outside the gate. Board Update: Curb Appeal Award winners, inaugural Card Night on Oct. 10, live music Oct. 21 at Clubhouse!

The Board hopes everyone’s fall season is off to a great start. October is shaping up to be a busy month in Eagle Nest – read on! 2023 Curb Appeal Awards winners announced! The Board is proud to recognize the following lots as winners of our 2023 Curb Appeal Awards, presented to Eagle Nest owners for their outstanding lot and house maintenance. First place (tied): 8031 Teel Way , above left, (Lot 52, Clayton Napier) and 8111 Warbler Way , above right (Lot 229, Todd and Rokeena Williams).  Both homes underwent extensive exterior renovations in recent years, including new roofing, new siding, new paint, wood repair, landscaping and more (all pre-approved by the Rules and Restrictions Committee, by the way). The owners could have saved considerable money by moving to a newer home in another neighborhood, but they chose to stay and invest in their properties.
