City repaves several cul-de-sacs, sidestreets in Eagle Nest
As many of you may have noticed, the City of Indianapolis repaved several cul-de-sacs in the neighborhood last week. The long overdue work targeted Dove Court, Quail Court, Mockingbird Court and parts of Mallard Way and Tanager Lane, with finishing work on the latter two expected within the next week.
Before work began, dozens of "no parking" signs popped up in yards throughout several of the courts. Several residents called the Board seeking an explanation for the signage, but unfortunately the city never notified anyone about its intentions -- it simply installed the signs one day and began work the next. The city made quick work of it, too, with nearly everything finished in a day.
Suffice to say, the affected courts desperately needed attention and resurfacing. Aside from saving on the wear and tear of vehicles, the improved roadways make for better curb appeal and help maintain our neighborhood property values.
It's worth mentioning that the Board and former longtime streets/sidewalk coordinator Ann Clough have pushed our City-County Council for years to keep Eagle Nest at the top of the street repair list. Credit for ultimately pushing through the request goes to our neighborhood District 5 council representative, Virginia "Ginny" Cain, a longtime advocate of Northeastside neighborhoods. If you have questions or concerns, feel free to contact her at 823-2460 or at cainforcouncil@aol.com.
