Pool to close part of Wednesday to chemically treat cloudy water
Fellow Eagle Nest residents,
Due to a small algae bloom in our Pool, the facility will be closed Wednesday, July 20, in the morning until about 3 p.m. to give corrective chemical treatments time to work. Under the direction of our new pool company, our pool staff will be applying two treatments (overnight and in the morning) to combat the problem, as well as over-chlorinating the water to restore clarity.
Despite the cloudy appearance, the water is safe to swim in, and the facility should remain open the rest of the day today.
Unfortunately, algae blooms are common for outdoor pools, and the problem seems to resurface after heavy storms we usually experience this time of year. Lots of debris (seen and unseen) gets dumped into the pool (including tables and chairs vandals pitched in the water last week. Yes, we’re reviewing our security cameras), affecting the chemical balance and resulting in cloudy water. It doesn't help that we have an aging pool filtration system, either.
Nonetheless, the Board and our Pool staff are optimistic that the issue will be resolved soon. Watch the blog for more updates. We will provide more updates as information becomes available. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
