Board message, re: COVID-19 and the importance of being good neighbors
Dear Eagle Nest residents,
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve, the Eagle Nest
Board hopes all residents are taking appropriate protective measures while leaning into the longtime strength of our residential
community: being good neighbors. What does that mean? Check in on our elderly
residents, those who may be ill or homebound with at-risk conditions. Offer to
get something they may need, whether food or medicines, or help with errands or
chores around the house.
In this era of social distancing for health concerns, start
with a phone call or email and keep trying until you get a hold of them. This
applies to others you may know throughout the neighborhood, too. If no answer,
and you think there is genuine reason to be concerned, call 911 for a wellness
check. In times like this, you don’t always need to see something to say
something.
Don’t know your neighbors? Now might be a good time for
introductions. Use our Eagle Nest Directory for contact information (and if you
don’t have one contact enpoa_sec@att.net
to get one). You can make your own decisions on how to greet them, of course,
whether with a wave, a fist bump, a head butt, whatever. The point is, social
distancing doesn’t have to mean total detachment from everyone around us,
especially those who may need help.
Finally, despite all that is going on around the world and
the constant barrage of information and dire statistics, it’s important to
remember the following have not been cancelled: walks around the neighborhood,
music, reading, phone calls, emails, family time, positive thinking, prayers
and being kind. That last point is a great place to start.
