Director
positions held by President Scott Thien, Vice President Jason Van Meter and
Directors Alice Miley and Brian Schneider are opening due to expiring terms.
Only Schneider, Thien and Van Meter are seeking re-election. Write-in
candidates are welcome, but all write-ins must be present during the Annual Meeting
to accept their nomination.
Director
responsibilities include attending monthly Board meetings, voting on key
neighborhood business, engaging with residents to resolve issues and
coordinating various assigned projects. Each new or re-elected Director will
serve a two-year term, a volunteer post lasting until June 2022.
Following are
the Board candidates so far and their bio information (if provided):
Brian Schneider, 8331 Mockingbird Lane (Board
member since 2018): “I have lived in Eagle Nest for 19 years with my wife and
our two children and have worked for City-County government for 22 years. I
have been on the Board for the past two years and would like to continue to
serve in that capacity. Eagle Nest is a great community to live in and I
believe that is due in large part to the efforts of the HOA and its being
fiscally responsible. It is a pleasure seeing our neighbors out and about
enjoying walking dogs, pushing strollers, riding bikes, and jogging not only
during this time of quarantine, but throughout the year. It is my hope
that I can continue to be a part of the Board to help ensure that Eagle Nest
remains a desirable place to live.”
Kim Isaak, 8330 Quail Court (former Board member and former Treasurer).
Scott Thien, 8032 Bittern Lane (President and Board member since 2010): “During
my Board tenure, I voted to support or led efforts to arrange food trucks; launched
the Eagle Nest blog; updated the Clubhouse interior; moved and rebuilt the playground;
resurfaced the sports courts; held association dues flat for eight of ten years;
helped manage/open the pool during staff transition and COVID-19 restrictions; and
worked to increase and improve resident communications through Constant Contact
emails, Facebook posts and blog use. But our work isn’t done: As we begin a new
decade, I feel there’s much more we as a Board and as a community can do to
ensure Eagle Nest remains a residential destination, including improving our streets,
reducing crime, expanding family and social events, and enforcing neighborhood
rules. That’s why I’m running for another term. I hope I can count on your support.”
Jason Van Meter, 8451 E. 82nd St. (Vice President and Board member
since 2012).
