Board Update: Little Library, Tuesday’s food truck, free Jet’s Pizza, free popsicles, Pool hours reminder

Eagle Nest residents,

Here’s what’s happening in the neighborhood the week of August 24:

LITTLE LIBRARY:
In these crazy, confining COVID-19 times, Eagle Nest has an easy way to escape the stress: Visit our Free Little Library. Dedicated in June 2018, the library is on the east side of the Clubhouse and features dozens of fiction and non-fiction books for children and adults to borrow.

The Eagle Nest Little Library is among more than 65,000 Little Free Libraries across the country with the motto, “Take a book, return a book.” The resource was designed and donated by longtime resident Annette Donegan, who taught first grade at Nora Elementary for 38 years. She lined up a carpenter to build it, longtime resident Sheila Jackson painted it, and resident Don Ugoletti installed it – a true neighborhood community effort.

“Being an educator, I have a passion for reading,” Donegan said at the dedication. “Many kids don't have access to books or haven't discovered the joy of reading.” She encouraged patrons to include a note in the books they return so others can get recommendations. If readers love a book and want to keep it, they can.

The Eagle Next Board thanks Annette and all those involved who made our Free Little Library a reality. (Source: former Board member Alice Miley)

FOOD TRUCK TUESDAY:
A reminder that ChefTLC will be at the Clubhouse from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 25. Menu: burgers, corndogs, pork tenderloins, chicken tenders, variety of fried sides, funnel cake fries, Fanta drinks. @Chef_tlc is bringing back their famous peach cobbler, too! Yes!

JET’S PIZZA GIVEAWAYS!
Want free pizza? Who doesn’t? On Thursday, August 27, the Board is giving away 50 free personal Jet’s Pizzas from 5-7 p.m. at the Clubhouse (One per lot, please.). Options include sausage, pepperoni or cheese. Extras will be available for sale for $5 (cash only). It’s the final event in our Family Fun Nights schedule of events, which have drawn hundreds of participants in July and August. Enjoy!

POOL HOURS REMINDER: A reminder that our weekday pool operation hours have been adjusted: 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday. Weekend hours remain the same: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. Per tradition, the first half hour and last half hour of each day are reserved for adult swim. The last day of operation for the season is Labor Day, Monday, Sept 7.

POPSICLES ON THE PATIO:
To bid farewell to another great Eagle Nest pool season, the Board is handing out free popsicles for kids and adults from noon to 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7. (Adults 21+ will like the alcohol-infused varieties.). We hope you enjoy this one last taste of summer. Can you believe fall is less than a month away?

In other Board news:

POTHOLE REPAIRS: If you spot a pothole in our development, your fellow residents would appreciate your help reporting it. Please take a moment and call the Mayor’s Action Center at (317) 327-4622 or go online at Indy.gov.

ABOUT THOSE GARBAGE BINS:
We know summer is a busy time for yard cleanup and home improvement projects, but a reminder that all garbage and recycling bins should be stored out of plain view of the development (Declarations of Restrictions 5F). Dozens of homes throughout our development routinely store these unsightly carts on driveways, front sidewalks or garage corners. Please observe the covenants and help avoid a trashy neighborhood look (pun intended).

That's it for now. As always, feel free to contact any Board member with questions, concerns or suggestions. Have a great week!

On behalf of the Board,
