Board Update: House fire Go Fund Me update, Jet’s Pizza on Wednesday, large trash pickup reminder, North Shadeland Alliance news

Eagle Nest residents,

Here’s a look at neighborhood news for the week of September 21:

GO FUND ME CAMPAIGN RAISES NEARLY $1,500!
The Board would like to thank everyone who has supported o
ur Go Fund Me fundraiser thus far to benefit longtime residents Richard and Sheila Jackson, whose home on Sandpiper Court was extensively damaged by fire earlier this month. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but you can imagine the devastating loss of memories and personal property.

In true Eagle Nest fashion, our community was quick to respond. Thanks to the generosity of our neighbors, our Go Fund Me campaign to help the Jacksons cover incidental living costs has raised nearly $1,500. And that’s in just one week!

This week, the Board will begin regular disbursements of funds to the Jacksons, but there’s still time to donate. The campaign will remain open and active through the end of the month, so if you want to donate CLICK HERE. Every dollar counts in a stressful time like this, so no donation is too small. Thank you in advance for your kindness. The Jacksons certainly do!

JET’S PIZZA COMING WEDNESDAY!
Our weekly rotation of food vendors continues this week at the Clubhouse. On Wednesday, Jet’s Pizza will be on site from 5-7 p.m. with their special $5 personal pan pizzas in your choice of sausage, cheese or pepperoni. Hot, boxed and ready to go. (Cash only, please.) You know the drill: Get there early, because once they’re gone they’re gone!

Up next September 29:
Chef TLC food bus (5-8 p.m.), will serve up their soul-infused, made-to order specialties. @chef_tlc is a fan favorite every time they visit!

As always, please observe CDC guidelines on social distancing and use of masks, and be careful entering and leaving the Clubhouse parking lot. Also, the Board asks residents to park in the back lot to keep traffic pathways clear. Thank you!

Other news of note …

LARGE TRASH ITEMS:
A reminder that if you have large trash items for disposal, Republic Services requires advance notice to arrange appropriate equipment. Residents are allowed one heavy pick up a month on any Tuesday. Large trash collections are not done during the regular morning curbside collection; a second truck will pass through the neighborhood, so don’t panic if your items sit for a bit. All pickups should be completed by 6 p.m.

Permitted large items include furniture, carpet remnants, household debris, etc. Not permitted: construction materials, toxic waste such as liquids and combustibles. To arrange a pickup or get info, call Republic at (844) 737-8254.

NORTH SHADELAND ALLIANCE NEWS:
The nonprofit North Shadeland Alliance has a great website and free electronic newsletter with the latest on city, business and restaurant developments in our area. The latest newsletter has key contacts, a crime survey, and an interview with the owner of Chile Verde, a fantastic locally owned restaurant in Shadeland Station! Check it out: https://northshadeland.com

That's it for now. As always, feel free to contact any Board member with questions, concerns or suggestions. Have a great week!

On behalf of the Board,
