2021 Holiday Lights Contest: And the winners are ...

Could there be any area neighborhood with more holiday spirit than Eagle Nest? The answer is no, judging by the 100+ homes decorated with all the colorful blinking lights and flashing yard decorations. And that made judging for this year’s Holiday Lights Contest a real challenge.

The stakes were big, too: First prize is a $50 gift card (with smaller prizes for second and third place), but more importantly bragging rights as the homeowners with the most holiday spirit. And so, drum roll, please … the winners are:

First place:
8250 Warbler Way (above), Tom and Cindy Corbett, Lot 120, near the north end of Bittern Lane. Said one judge: “It’s hard not to notice this display. At first, it comes across as a little ‘extra,’ as the kids say, but the display definitely has the ‘wow’ factor.” This is the Corbetts’ fourth win since the contest started in 2012. They also placed first in 2020, 2019 and 2014. Their prize: $50 gift card.

Second place:
7814 Nightingale Court (above), Will Pittman and Jennifer Pinegar, Lot 334, off Tanager Lane near Lawrence North. Said another judge: “It’s just a classic, homey look – just the vibe Eagle Nest is known for.” The prize: $35 gift card.

Third place: 8120 Warbler Way (above), Ray Voss and Roa Dee Dimaano, Lot 231. Said another judge: “This display just catches the eye – and that’s what it takes.” Their prize: $25 gift card.

There were plenty of Honorable Mentions, too: 8133 Bittern Lane, 8237 Bittern Lane, 8326 Dove Court, 8427 Goldfinch, 8322 Heron Court, 7816 Mallard Way, 7826 Mallard Way, 8331 Mockingbird Court, 8238 Osprey Court, 8329 Quail Court, 8407 Sandpiper Court, 8402 Tanager Lane, 8031 Tanager Lane, 8133 Tanager Court, 8039 Teel Way, 7710 Warbler Way, 7711 Warbler Way, 8305 Warbler Way, and the list goes on.
