Pool closed for maintenance; reopening targeted for Sunday, July 3
The Board regrets to inform everyone that our Pool is closed
for next few days as we work to drain and refill the facility improve our water
quality. We know the timing isn't amazing with the holiday weekend approaching, but we can't change the laws of physics.
As previously communicated in our dues letter issued earlier this year, our aging facility is growing increasingly problematic to maintain. This week was another example of our ongoing challenges.
Last weekend, our main pump burned out due to system pressures. We quickly installed a new pump, and Tuesday we passed our weekly water quality test. Thursday, however, we had to close after a surprise inspection by the Marion County Health Department determined substandard water quality. In short, our existing chemical treatments were not effective without proper circulation.
The solution: drain the pool halfway, then refill
it with fresh water and rebalanced chemicals. That process is underway and
barring any issues we expect to reopen Sunday morning.
We know this is an inconvenience, but it’s worth noting that several area neighborhoods and city pools remain closed or operate under extremely reduced hours because of lifeguard and employee shortages. But not Eagle Nest!
Now, for some good news: We are nearly full staffed, so once our pool reopens we will return to normal hours on the weekends – 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. The modified weekday hours of noon to 6 p.m. remain the same until further notice. Again, these weekend hours take effect when we reopen.
More good news: Adult swim is back on the weekends! For the first and last half hour during weekend operation, the inside lane closest to the center guard chair is reserved for adult swimmers. Parents and teens, if you see an adult lap swimmer in that area, please be courteous and respectful and stay out of their lane. Disruptive or discourteous pool users who interfere with lap swimmers will be ejected. We hope it won’t come to that, of course. Be good neighbors!
And still more good news: The hugely popular free swim lessons for kids are coming soon, likely mid-July. Dates and times are still being worked out, so watch for signup sheets under the deck.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through our pool maintenance issues. As always, we encourage all residents to attend our monthly Board meetings so you can share your questions and concerns, learn about our neighborhood business and help ensure Eagle Nest remains a great place to live. Our next meeting is 6:30 p.m. July 20 at the Clubhouse. Join us!
Scott Thien, Eagle Nest President
