The winners of the 2023 Holiday Lights Contest are ...
Every year, judging for our annual Holiday Lights Contest gets tougher and tougher, and 2023 was no exception. This year’s challenge: sizing up more than 100 homes with lot decorations in a variety of colorful shapes, sizes and configurations, some traditional, some creative, all a colorful sign of season.
Our independent judge from out-of-state (a former resident, no less!) struggled with all the choices, but after applying stringent judging criteria and washing it through our patented AI matrix, she came up with the following results:
1ST
PLACE: 8250 Warbler Way (Tom and Cindy Corbett)
Judge’s
comment: "Last year's second-place finisher – and previous five-time
winner – reclaims the top spot, though barely as competition was stiff all
across the neighborhood. This is the property to beat every year.”
2ND
PLACE: 8133 Bittern Lane (Kevin and Bronwyn Caddell)
Judge's
comment: "This display was simply a gem with an eye-popping mix of yard
and landscape lighting. The Merry Christmas garage door wrap was hard to miss,
too."
3RD
PLACE (tied): 8322 Heron Court (Brandon and Jennifer Barnette) and 7935
Tanager Lane (Troy Gabbard/Jodi Breece)
Judge's
comment: "Both these displays were top contenders in their own right – Heron
Court for the neighborhood’s largest standalone rooftop display (above), and Tanager Lane
for its classic holiday look (below)."
First place earns a $50 gift card, $35 for second and $25 for both thirds. Better yet, these residents earned bragging rights as Eagle Nest's best displays. Some notable honorable mentions: 7816 Mallard Way, 8232 Osprey, 8133 Tanager Court, 8019 Tanager Lane, 8409 Tanager Lane, 7718 Teel Way, 7929 Teel Way, 8039 Teel Way, 7710 Warbler Way and 7747 White Dove Drive. Congrats, all!
Happy holidays, and we wish everyone a very happy and safe New Year!
