Board Update: Pool opening and Pool Party, annual dues reminder, new social events team, Hague Road entrance

Memorial Day is coming – and that means Pool season is upon us! We have lots to tell about our opening plans, so here goes:
  • Pool opening: Noon to 8 p.m., Memorial Day, Monday, May 27. Due to scheduling issues with our pool company, it was a scramble to get the facility power washed, cleaned and filled, so the water may be a little cold. Fingers crossed the rain holds off.
  • Pool Party:
Noon to 2 p.m. Memorial Day. Free hotdogs, chips, popsicles, lemonade, and beer for the adults.
  • Weather: Given the rainy weather forecast for Monday, watch the blog and Facebook page for updates on postponements or closures.
  • New Pool fobs: All residents in good standing can pick up their new Pool fobs from noon to 8 p.m. Monday. Board members will be set up on the concrete pad outside the gate. Be sure to bring your ID and lot number. Reminder: Only residents whose dues have been paid and cleared can obtain fobs.
  • Want more fob info? Check your mailbox. This week, all residents were mailed a Q&A document along with their Annual Meeting notice and Board of Directors Election Ballot.
  • Pool fob waiver: Our waiver/fob acceptance letter was mistakenly omitted from our Q&A mailing, so residents can sign one when their obtain their fob.
Paid your annual dues yet? If not, late fees begin soon
About two dozen of our 419 lot owners still have not paid their $475 annual dues, so a reminder to those that the deadline is Friday, May 31. After that, the following late fee structure applies:
  • After May 31, 2024, dues are $500. Note: Access to Clubhouse rentals and Pool fob use will be restricted until your account is paid in full (and check or electronic payment has cleared).
  • After June 15, 2024, dues are $525.
  • After July 1, 2024, dues are $550. At that point, all unpaid lots will be referred to our attorney for collections. Residents are responsible for all attorney fees and a 6% interest charge.

Hague Road entrance update – and call for sign designs!
Thanks to all residents for your patience as the Board continues to navigate the property insurance process for our damaged Hague Road entrance. We have engaged a contractor to begin removing the debris next week, so please use caution as you exit our west entrance and give our contractor a wide berth.

What’s next? We need a new sign or monument to welcome visitors, so now is your chance to help reimagine our west entrance! Please send your suggestions or sketches of what you think would look good, based on the existing curb structure and available space. We welcome contractor references, too.

We know exiting sightlines are a challenge, so we’re hoping for something smaller and set back so residents don’t have to strain to look around any obstructions. Please send your suggestions to scottthien@comcast.net by June 30. Thank you!

Meet our new Social Events Planning Team!
Thank you to Teel Way residents Sarah Craney and Marcella Kates for stepping up to replace outgoing Social Chair Brigette Stephens. Quick bios about each:
  • Sarah Craney: I am a mother of a beautiful daughter, parent to two sweet pups, and wife to my loving husband of six years.
  • Marcella Kates: I am a mother of two wonderful children, parent of the most adorable pug, and wife to the best husband of 17 years.
Here’s what they wrote in expressing their interest to the Board: “As Helen Keller so accurately put it, ‘Alone, we can do so little; together we can do so much.’ … Between us, we have lived in Eagle Nest for 14 years. Additionally, we are local to the area, and it has been our home for years. We grew up across the street from each other in Devonshire. To this day, our parents still live in the homes we grew up in, so this community is significant to the both of us.

Wanting what’s best for the neighborhood is a top priority for the both of us. We want to have a place where all neighbors feel welcome and inclined to participate and grow as a community. Our fresh perspective brings a finger to the pulse of what neighbors in Eagle Nest would want to attend and enjoy.” Among their ideas: family-friendly picnics on the hill by our Clubhouse; good ol’ community block parties; Garden Club; Pickleball Club; and potentially expanding social media.

Start clearing out those attics and basements now and get ready to make a little extra cash during our Annual Neighborhood Garage Sale on June 7-8. Hours of operation are up to residents, but traditionally that runs 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or so both days.
Annual Meeting and Board Election is June 26
Our Annual Meeting and Board Election is June 26. All residents were mailed ballots the week of May 20. Please take a moment to read the letter, select your candidates and drop your ballot in our secure Clubhouse mailbox, 8075 Teel Way, by 6:30 p.m. June 26. Thank you!

On behalf of the Board,
Scott Thien, Eagle Nest President
