The Annual Party and Potluck, our hugely popular, family friendly tradition, will be held Sunday, Aug. 4, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Clubhouse. All new and longtime residents are welcome to enjoy free food, beverages and a few surprises, including random gift card drawings and treats for the kids.

New Social Committee Co-chairs Marcellas Kates and Sarah Craney are organizing a fantastic event, including fried chicken provided by the Board; mac and cheese; potato salad; fruit and vegetable trays; cookies; lemonade; adult beverages (beer/seltzers); and water.

If you would, please bring a side dish, chips and dip, or a dessert for residents to enjoy. Please also list your contribution in our Signup Genius link here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090E4BAFAB2AA6FD0-50392418-eagle

Reminder: Week 2 of swim lessons are going on right now!
It’s not too late to sign up for our second week of our free swim lessons at our fabulous Pool. Lessons started Monday, July 22, and run through Friday, July 26. Sessions are half an hour each, from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. to noon. Participants must be at least three years old, and siblings can sign up together.

A signup sheet is posted on the window under the Clubhouse deck at the rear of the facility. Questions? Contact pool manager Samantha burns by email at samanthaburns51@gmail.com.

Speaking of the Pool, a general reminder that our facility hours are noon to 8 p.m. daily and your access fobs only work during those hours. We’ve had several calls or emails recently from residents trying to gain access outside those hours, so please note the hours of operation. Thank you.

Euchre Night still going strong, open to all players
Did you know we have a Euchre Night? That’s right, since last fall about a dozen residents have regularly met the first Tuesday of every month at the Clubhouse for friendly games and great conversation in our wonderful Clubhouse. Players have varying levels of experience, so all are welcome with or without a partner. Questions? Contact frequent player Brandy Schneider at 317-522-6061.

Not into Euchre? Bring your favorite board or card games down to the Clubhouse on Euchre nights, set up a table and start your own gaming club. It’s all in the interest of putting our wonderful Clubhouse facility to good use for all residents.

Calling all pickleball enthusiasts – we’re forming a club!
We are thrilled to announce the launch of a new Pickleball Club at Eagle Nest! As you may know, we had pickleball courts painted on our tennis courts a couple years ago, and there’s growing interest in building an organized group to make good use of them!

This will be an informal club at first, and we welcome any ideas you have to make it more enjoyable for everyone. We're planning a fun launch party at the end of the summer, with a rough roster, contact list and dedicated play times for residents.

For those eager to start playing now, we have a solution! Please use the Signup Genius sheet linked here to schedule games with your fellow pickleball-loving friends. When signing up, kindly indicate whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced player. Watch the blog and our Facebook page for more information to come!

Board election recap: 4 candidates reelected
Thank you to the dozens of residents who voted in last month’s annual Board election, during which Brian Schneider, Treasurer Kim Isaak, Vice President Jason Van Meter and President Scott Thien each were re-elected to another two-year term. Once the 2024 Board was seated, members voted to re-nominate all officers to their former positions, and all nominees accepted.

This year’s election was notable because it yielded the longest-serving Board President (10 years) and longest President-Vice President tandem in Eagle Nest history (eight years). Kim and Brian have served consecutive terms, too. That’s great news for the neighborhood, because consistency and institutional knowledge have played a key role in our neighborhood’s successes over the years, including the installation of a new playground, new pool bathrooms, Clubhouse landscaping, street light improvements, and the list goes on.

More than 50 residents (13%) cast ballots in our annual Board election. Granted, that’s a fraction of our development’s 419 lot owners, but we thank participating residents, nonetheless. And we would like to see more next year. Three of our four Board seats will be up for re-election in June 2025, so reach out to President Scott Thien at scottthien@comcast.net if you want to run or have questions about the process.

On behalf of the Board,
Scott Thien, President
