Eagle Nest garage sale this weekend

A reminder that the Eagle Nest neighborhood garage sale is the end of this week -- Friday, June 6, and Saturday, June 7. The event will go on rain or shine.

Friday is the "preview" day, while Saturday is the main sale day. The dates were chosen to coincide with surrounding neighborhood association sales in hopes of luring more traffic.

To help promote the event, the Eagle Nest Board placed ads in local media, as well as posts on Facebook and this, your favorite neighborhood blog. Residents are encouraged to put signs in their yards or balloons on the mailbox posts to signal potential buyers.

Each year, it gets harder and harder to pick the winners in the annual Holiday Lights Contest – and that’s a good thing. It’s so refreshing, uplifting and encouraging to see the spirit of the holidays on full display across the neighborhood, in big ways and small. This year’s panel of judges – a Board member’s relatives visiting from Florida and Belgium (no joke!) – were amazed by the effort so many homeowners put into decorating their lots and homes. Board Update: Pool Party with free food, new fob access, cleanup crew recap; Annual Garage Sale June 7-8; dues deadlines approaching and more!

Hello, Eagle Nesters! The Board hopes your spring is off to a great start. It’s hard to believe with all the cold, rainy weather of April that the Pool will be open in barely a month. In preparation for that, it’s time to share a few updates about the 2024 swim season: Nearly a dozen residents turn out to deep clean the Pool A huge thanks goes out to the volunteer team led by Bittern Lane residents John and Cindy Spicklemire for organizing a deep clean of Pool facility on Saturday, April 27. The team of 12 spent hours power washing the chairs to address years of sunblock stains and removing wall grime, while others pulled weeds, cleaned the tables and swept up debris. In return, the Board brought in Jimmy John’s sandwiches, chips and water to keep our cleaning crew fueled up. That was a small price to pay for what would have cost thousands of dollars in labor and time to hire a contractor to do the same work.
