Pool opens Memorial Day weekend, likely Saturday, so be sure to pay your dues

As the Memorial Day weekend approaches, many Eagle Nest residents probably have noticed a lot of activity around our Pool and Clubhouse lately. The spring rains have eased a bit, so the Board has been busy working to improve the grounds and facilities in anticipation of opening of our Pool for the season, likely on Saturday (weather permitting). Highlights of some of the changes you'll see:
  • Landscaping: We installed bushes and several trees near the Playground to create a more park-like setting, as well as provide shade to the equipment once the trees mature.
  • Picnic tables: Several picnic tables will be permanently installed near the front of the Clubhouse grounds, providing much-needed places for families to picnic or enjoy our Family Fun Nights (click here for a schedule).
  • Pool repairs: Work is underway to replace the concrete coping edges and decorative tile around the entire perimeter -- the first major Pool repair in about a decade -- followed by an acid wash and refill beginning Thursday. The coping had loosened in many spots, creating a safety hazard. The Pool officially opens Monday, Memorial Day, but Pool Manager Susan Anderson is working hard to open Saturday, weather permitting. The heater will be on, so even if it's chilly outside the water should be tolerable.
  • Sidewalk installation: The Board is close to finishing the bid process for installation of a sidewalk on the east side of the Clubhouse. The goal is to make Pool access easier for those with strollers or mobility issues. Work could begin next month.
Unfortunately, about 40 residents still haven't paid their annual dues, which means they won't be getting Pool tags until their accounts are paid. (They also lose this year's one-time $40 credit and incur a late fee). On June 1, all delinquent accounts will turned over to our attorney for collection, but we hope it won't come to that. We understand life gets in the way sometimes, so if you haven't paid your dues yet please drop them in the Eagle Nest Clubhouse mailbox at 8075 Teel Way as soon as possible.

Pool tags will be mailed this week to all residents who showed paid as of May 16; delayed processing and delivery will result for lots paid after that date. Questions about the status of your account? Contact Secretary/Bookkeeper Chris'e Van Meter at enpoa_sec@att.net. Questions about Pool tags? Contact Pool Manager Susan Anderson at saanderson16@yahoo.com.

As always, the Board welcomes suggestions and feedback on ways to ensure Eagle Nest remains a top-notch neighborhood, and we wish everyone a fantastic Memorial Day weekend!

Scott Thien, ENPOA President
