Board Update: Free Simply Divine cupcakes, pool updates, August food truck schedule, Zoom Crime Watch meeting

Hello, Eagle Nest residents!

Here is what’s ahead in Eagle Nest for the week of August 3:

FREE CUPCAKES FOR THE KIDS! That’s right, come to the Clubhouse on Thursday, Aug. 6 (5-7 p.m.), and the first 50 kids (ages 1-12) will receive a free cupcake from Simply Divine Cupcakes, the popular dessert vendor in downtown City Market. (Some of you might remember Simply Divine’s visits earlier this summer as part of our food truck rotation.) First come, first served; one cupcake per child, please. Compliments of our Social Committee and the Board. Simply Divine will stay on site to sell extra cupcakes once our free batch is gone. It’s all part of Family Fun Nights, every Thursday at the Clubhouse. Coming August 13: free Kona Ice snow cones!

POOL UPDATE: The Board thanks all residents for their continued help in observing our posted rules and following CDC guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Please ensure you maintain social distancing from those not in your immediate party and wear a mask when entering and exiting the facility (Masks are not required while swimming, of course.). A reminder that we require all residents sign and submit a pool waiver for our files before using the facility. Nearly 200 lot owners have done so, a testament to our development’s support and commitment to safety. Lastly, please note the following hours of operation (We’ve had residents show up early before the guards were fully prepared to open): Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Check the Pool link on the Eagle Nest blog for more info. Questions? Contact Pool Manager Samantha Burns at samanthaburns51@gmail.com.

SWIM LESSON FAN MAIL: A shoutout to our lifeguard staff for their fantastic work conducting free swim lessons for nearly two dozen young Eagle Nesters last month. Following is a thank you from a participating family: “Three of our boys participated in the swim lessons and they had so much fun! Thank you thank you for making that happen this year! Our 6-year-old came away very confident, and after knowing nothing on Monday he was able to take his puddle jumper off yesterday and practiced with his Dad one more time before doggy paddling like a champ. We are very proud of him and thankful for the lifeguards encouragement and time this week!” If your kids participated, please be sure to thank the guards for their time and instruction – they would appreciate hearing your feedback.

FOOD TRUCK SCHEDULE FOR AUGUST: Grab your calendar and mark the following food truck dates at the Clubhouse. We have a new participant, as well as several vendors returning by popular demand. The August lineup:

  • August 11: ChefTLC, 5-8 p.m. Menu: burgers, corndogs, pork tenderloins, chicken tenders, wide variety of fried sides, funnel cakes, turkey legs, Fanta drinks. @Chef_tlc has been serving up soul-infused food for 25 years, and their food bus has been a popular go-to since our food truck series began.
  • August 18: Serendipity, 5-8 p.m. Menu: elk burger sliders, chicken tacos, crab cakes, hand-cut truffle fries, Cubans and more. Winner of the 2019 Central Indiana Battle of Food Trucks, @serendipitytruck has become a neighborhood favorite with its eclectic menu and high-quality food.

ZOOM CRIME WATCH MEETING AUGUST 4: Are you looking for ways to keep your family and property safe? Want to know how to effectively handle solicitors? Do you know when it’s appropriate to call 911? Concerned about speeders in the neighborhood? Join our next Eagle Nest Crime Watch meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, held virtually on Zoom. It’s free! To join, check your email by noon Monday for registration details. If you don’t get an email, contact Crime Watch Coordinator Carolyn Goldenetz at goldenetz@gmail.com.

Other neighborhood news:

  • FAMILY WALKATHON POSTPONED: Because of expected rainy weather, the Family Walkathon set for Sunday, August 2, has been postponed. A new date has not yet been determined.
  • POPSICLES ON THE PATIO POSTPONED: Due to rain on Thursday, July 30, our free Popsicles on the Patio event for Family Fun Night will be rescheduled for later in the month.
  • CURB APPEAL WINNERS: The judges are still comparing notes and will announce results of the 2020 Curb Appeal Awards next week. Stay tuned!

That's it for now. As always, feel free to contact any Board member with questions, concerns or suggestions. Have a great week!

On behalf of the Board,

Scott Thien, President
