Food trucks, free snow cones, whiskey tasting and more highlight our 2022 Social Events Calendar

As summer winds down, it's time to gear up for the start of school with ... drum roll please ... food trucks! That’s right, we’re excited to report another summer of great food vendors will be visiting our development most Tuesdays, starting August 9 through October 25. We know it can be scramble to whip up dinner on school nights, especially after you've been working all day, so our food truck partners got you covered!

First up: The Latin Flavor, a rising local favorite serving, well, Latin-inspired street tacos, burritos, quesadillas, nachos, tacos and more (Don’t forget the homemade fruit water). The Latin Flavor has been spotted all over town, pulling in rave reviews for their flavorful, hearty servings cooked fresh on the spot. (Check them out on Facebook.) Save the dates: Aug. 9, Sept. 13, Oct. 11 (6 to 8 p.m.)

But that’s not all. The trucks are the first of several activities for both kids and adults lined up by new Social Committee Chair and Board member Brigette Stephens, who was elected to the Board at our June 2022 Annual Meeting. Here’s a look at our great lineup of Clubhouse events so far:

Aug. 7: Annual Party, noon to 2 p.m. Per tradition, this is our biggest event for residents featuring free fried chicken, lemonade and beer provided by the Board, with sides, dips and desserts donated by residents. Bring your favorites to make this the mother of all potlucks! (Email Brigette at bestephens4@gmail.com so we know who’s bringing what.) Join us for a casual afternoon lunch, meet new and longtime residents and share all that is great about life in Eagle Nest!

Aug. 14: Kona Ice, noon to 2 p.m.: The perfect summer treat – free to the first 80 kids! Kids can fix their own shaved ice treats with a wide variety of flavors. Simply present a current Eagle Nest Pool pass and you’re good to go. This free offer is first-come, first-served, so don’t wait too late!

Sept. 30: Sippin’ in September. Adults-only whiskey tasting and tutorial event. Sample and learn about the different types of whiskeys popular today. Led by resident Thomas Stephens. Light hors d'oeuvres will be served. Questions/want to help organize? Email Brigette at bestephens4@gmail.com. More details to come!

Oct. 28: Family S’mores Night. Join fellow residents for a family friendly night of creative treat making (and eating!). The Social Committee will provide all the supplies to make the best s’mores in Eagle Nest history -- all you need to bring is an appetite! Great event for kids, all ages welcome.

Nov. 6: Colts Tailgate and Chili Cook-off: Kick off the Matt Ryan QB era with our chili cook-off contest and watch the Colts take on the Patriots on our big-screen TV. Bring a crockpot filled with your favorite chili recipe, along with recipe cards to share. The top three best entries win gift cards and bragging rights!

Dec. 3: Cookies and Donuts with Santa. Our annual cookie-decorating event for the kids now has an adult component – donuts and coffee (with Bailey’s Irish Crème)! The Social Committee with provide all the cookies, donuts and decorating supplies to share, along with ample time for selfies with our real, live Santa -- perfect for holiday card photos!

And there’s more to come! Watch the blog’s Events page as more details are confirmed. Want to help plan events? Email Brigette at bestephens4@gmail.com.

On behalf of the Board,
Scott Thien, President
