Clubhouse reminders: Smokey Blue BBQ on Sept. 20, and Sippin' in September whiskey event Sept. 30

Hello, Eagle Nest residents,

October may be just around the corner, but not before we close out September with a couple more food and drink events at the Clubhouse. What’s coming up:

Sept. 20: Food truck Tuesday with Smokey Blue BBQ

Yep, that’s right – the popular craft BBQ vendor will be back in Eagle Nest from 6-8 p.m. serving up a limited menu, so service should be quick. We’re talking pulled pork sandwiches and all the sides, including green beans with bacon, mac and cheese, loaded fries and street corn. Sorry, no burritos, but we’re sure you won’t leave disappointed. Start your mouth watering by checking their Facebook and Instagram pages, then let Smokey Blue BBQ do the cooking for you.

Sept. 30: Sippin’ in September whiskey tasting event

Nearly a dozen Eagle Nesters have RSVP’d for our first Sippin’ in September whiskey tasting event 7-9 p.m. on Sept. 30. Sure, we realize whiskey may not be your beverage of choice, but our event will be a great way to meet other residents, learn a little about the history and styles of whiskey, graze on appetizers, and enjoy a chill, relaxing night out without the kids or having to wait for a restaurant or bar table.

Our surveys have indicated residents wanted more adult-only mixers, so we’re trying something new. We’re game for anything, too, so send us your ideas. Email bestephens4@gmail.com.

Not a whiskey person? No biggie, just bring your beverage of choice and hang out with some great people having a great time. Afterall, it is a Friday – why not have a little neighborhood party? Click here to sign up! (Pitch-in dishes and munchies welcome)

Hello, Eagle Nesters! The Board hopes your spring is off to a great start. It’s hard to believe with all the cold, rainy weather of April that the Pool will be open in barely a month. In preparation for that, it’s time to share a few updates about the 2024 swim season: Nearly a dozen residents turn out to deep clean the Pool A huge thanks goes out to the volunteer team led by Bittern Lane residents John and Cindy Spicklemire for organizing a deep clean of Pool facility on Saturday, April 27. The team of 12 spent hours power washing the chairs to address years of sunblock stains and removing wall grime, while others pulled weeds, cleaned the tables and swept up debris. In return, the Board brought in Jimmy John’s sandwiches, chips and water to keep our cleaning crew fueled up. That was a small price to pay for what would have cost thousands of dollars in labor and time to hire a contractor to do the same work. Board Update: Pool opening and Pool Party, annual dues reminder, new social events team, Hague Road entrance

Memorial Day is coming – and that means Pool season is upon us! We have lots to tell about our opening plans, so here goes: Pool opening: Noon to 8 p.m., Memorial Day, Monday, May 27. Due to scheduling issues with our pool company, it was a scramble to get the facility power washed, cleaned and filled, so the water may be a little cold. Fingers crossed the rain holds off. Pool Party: Noon to 2 p.m. Memorial Day. Free hotdogs, chips, popsicles, lemonade, and beer for the adults. Weather: Given the rainy weather forecast for Monday, watch the blog and Facebook page for updates on postponements or closures. New Pool fobs: All residents in good standing can pick up their new Pool fobs from noon to 8 p.m. Monday. Board members will be set up on the concrete pad outside the gate. Be sure to bring your ID and lot number. Reminder: Only residents whose dues have been paid and cleared can obtain fobs. Want more fob info? Check your mailbox. Board Update: Curb Appeal Award winners, inaugural Card Night on Oct. 10, live music Oct. 21 at Clubhouse!

The Board hopes everyone’s fall season is off to a great start. October is shaping up to be a busy month in Eagle Nest – read on! 2023 Curb Appeal Awards winners announced! The Board is proud to recognize the following lots as winners of our 2023 Curb Appeal Awards, presented to Eagle Nest owners for their outstanding lot and house maintenance. First place (tied): 8031 Teel Way , above left, (Lot 52, Clayton Napier) and 8111 Warbler Way , above right (Lot 229, Todd and Rokeena Williams).  Both homes underwent extensive exterior renovations in recent years, including new roofing, new siding, new paint, wood repair, landscaping and more (all pre-approved by the Rules and Restrictions Committee, by the way). The owners could have saved considerable money by moving to a newer home in another neighborhood, but they chose to stay and invest in their properties.
