Pool bathrooms remodeling project underway; completion set for June
You may have noticed a flurry of activity at the Clubhouse recently. The Board's Pool Bathroom remodeling project is underway, a long overdue modernization that will include ADA accessible toilets, showers, baby changing stations, a storage/locker area for the lifeguard staff, wider doors and improved access and security.
The project is the first major renovation of any type for the Clubhouse since the structure was built during our neighborhood's birth. In short, it was long overdue.
Completion is targeted for mid- to late June, which means portable latrines (one for men, one for women) will be available for residents during the construction period. (Parents, if you have small children the Board recommends you accompany them to the latrines during pool use.)
The Board had intended for the project to be completed by pool opening weekend, however several unforeseen glitches popped up during the off-season. Chief among them: The extreme cold caused a pipe burst between the first and second floors, flooding the basement, the office and main basement. It took time to mitigate the water damage and settle with the insurance company.
The Board voted unanimously to rebuild the antiquated bathrooms, engaged an architect and sought several construction estimates. It took months to obtain the proper permits, too. The Board ultimately hired Community Construction LLC of Plainfield to handle all demolition, reconstruction and installation work for the project.
Our remodeling crews began work last week, so residents using the common grounds are urged to use caution and be aware of debris when entering/leaving the area. Parents, please urge your children to avoid the construction area so crews can do their work efficiently.
The Board appreciates residents' patience and understanding for the temporary inconvenience but is confident the project will be something all can enjoy for years to come.
Questions about the project can be directed to ENPOA President Scott Thien or Director Brad Bobich.
