Eagle Nest Board update for April 2026: dues, streetlights, potholes, suspicious vehicles, upcoming events and more

Now that spring has sprung in Eagle Nest, summer isn’t far behind – barely two months away! With that, the Board has a few updates and event announcements to pass along:

Package delivery alert: Suspicious vehicles trolling streets
If you order from Amazon or other delivery sites, take note: Residents along Warbler Way recently reported suspicious vehicles (shown) driving slowly along the street, possibly looking for packages. One vehicle even tailed a U.S. Postal Service truck for blocks as it made its deliveries one day. If you expect a package to be delivered while you are away or at work, the Board suggests you ask a neighbor to grab the package for you or time your deliveries for when you are home. As always, if you see something suspicious, call 911.

200 books dumped at Clubhouse
The Board appreciates donations to our Free Little Library, but at the risk of sounding ungrateful we don’t need 200 books (shown at right). On April 6, that’s what an anonymous donor dumped on our Clubhouse front porch. And our library only holds about 25 books at best. We don’t know if the man captured on our security cameras was a resident, but if you or someone you know left the books please contact a Board member or our Clubhouse Manager Kelly Dentler before emptying your bookshelf again. Thank you.

A word or two about streetlights and road signage
  • Warbler Way: Thanks to residents in the 8200 block of Warbler Way who reported a downed
    – and live – streetlight to AES and the Board after March’s damaging storms. Even though the downed pole created a potential safety hazard to curious children, pets and others, AES said service and replacement wouldn't occur until the end of April. The Board found that unacceptable, of course, so Streets and Sidewalks Coordinator John Strauss followed up with a direct message to AES’s CEO to request immediate attention in the interest of safety. As a result, the pole was removed within two days, and a replacement (right) was installed April 10. The point of all this? It takes a community to ensure our neighborhood runs smoothly, so if you see a downed or malfunctioning light pole, please contact AES at 317-261-8111 or report it online here. Then be sure to contact the Board so we can monitor the service time and press AES for action, as we did in this case.
  • 75th Street and Teel Way: Damaged in a hit-and-run last fall, the last light pole on south Teel Way should be replaced in about 30 days with a brighter, more efficient light element. We thank residents for their patience, as it took longer than expected to engage AES to begin the replacement process.
  • Hague Road No Parking sign: If you frequent our west entrance, you might have noticed one of our two No Parking signs had been knocked to the ground. We reported it to the Mayor’s Action Center website, and within three weeks it was reinstalled. Now, all we need next is to get those dang potholes filled. Read on …
It's pothole season: How to report them
If you drive in and out of our Hague Road entrance, you probably noticed the return of those annoying – and dangerous – potholes. That’s why we’re asking for residents to help again and report them to the Mayor’s Action Center website. It only takes a few minutes: All you need to do is answer six quick multiple-choice questions (you’ll need the address of the closest house, by the way). That’s it. By the way, the more reports we get filed, the higher our requests are positioned on the work list. Go online today!

Events calendar filling up with Clubhouse activities
The Board has been busy lining up spring and summer events at the Clubhouse. Check out our Events calendar for the latest social activities. Highlights:
  • Annual Neighborhood Garage Sale: June 5-7, with early-bird preview on Friday and closing on Sunday. Hours are at resident discretion.
  • Free yoga classes: That’s right, free. 6:30 p.m. every Wednesday.
  • Euchre Club: Games begin at 6:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month.
  • Pool opening: May 25 (Memorial Day), less than two months away! (Be sure to fill out and return the backside of your dues invoice so your gate entry fob can be activated.)
  • Board meeting dates: April 23 (tentative); May 14; and June 25 (Annual Meeting and Board Election). We also are tentatively planning a second resident meeting in May to discuss the Board’s proposed fine policy and fee schedule as part of our proposed controlling document changes. Watch the blog for more details on that soon.
Reminder: Lot improvements need Board approval
Now that nice weather has arrived, residents usually start installing fences and sheds, changing exterior paint colors, replacing driveways, and more. And that’s great. The Board encourages homeowners to maintain and improve their lots. Just be sure you submit a request and obtain Board approve before you begin work, per our neighborhood covenants. Such requests are rarely rejected; the Board simply needs to ensure projects fit with the aesthetics of the neighborhood and don’t infringe on other neighbors’ rights. The review process is quick and easy. Click here for more details on our blog.

Reminder: May 30 deadline for annual Association dues
By now, all residents should have received their annual dues invoice in the U.S. mail. Dues are payable May 1, late after May 30. Payments must be received or postmarked by May 31 to avoid costly late fees. We know times are challenging for many, so if you want to work out a payment plan please contact Bookkeeper Chris’e Van Meter at enpoa_sec@att.net.

That’s it for this month. Here’s to warmer temps and sunny skies as we enjoy the neighborhood’s springtime return to a beautiful leafy green. In the meantime, be safe, be kind, and be ready for the Pool opening and other big events.

On behalf of the Board,
Scott Thien, President
