Step up, speak up: Help shape Eagle Nest’s future – run for the Board!

Image
It starts with people who care. In churches, schools, and neighborhoods every day, volunteers are those who make things happen. They’re the people who show up, speak up, and step in — not because they have to, but because they care. Eagle Nest is no different. Behind the scenes, your Board of Directors is made up of folks just like you — people motivated to make a difference in the place they call home. How to run for the Board: At the June 25 Annual Meeting and Board Election, you have the chance to fill one of four seats opening on the Board due to expiring terms. If you are interested in placing your name on the ballot, simply send your bio, a headshot, and a short summary of your “platform” – what you would like to focus on – to Board President Scott Thien at scottthien@comcast.net . Your information will be shared on our blog and Facebook page so residents can consider your candidacy. But what do Board members do (Hint: It’s more than meetings): Serving on the Eagle Nest Board m...

No yoga class Wednesday, April 29; classes take a break in late May

Image
Alert to all yoga class participants: Due to a personal commitment, yoga instructor Deby Wilson will NOT teach class Wednesday, April 29. The next class will be Wednesday, May 6, at the usua l time 6:30 p.m. After that, given warmer weather and fuller schedules on the horizon, Deby will lead yoga classes on May 13 and May 20, then take a break for summer. We will miss Deby and her exercise expertise but wish her all the best this summer. As fall approaches, watch the blog and Facebook for details on when classes will resume. Until then, lean into Deby's instruction, exercise on your own and stay limber!

Pothole repairs at Hague Road, and a streetlight finally fixed on Teel Way

Image
City crews this week patched more than 60 Eagle Nest potholes on our main east-west street, including the minefields at the Hague Road entrance and at the three-way stop at Tanager Lane and Warbler Way. This follows the Board’s efforts to alert our two City-County Council members and the Mayor’s Action Center. Councilor Nick Roberts answered our call and said he’s placed Tanager on his priority list for a complete repaving. This week’s patching didn’t go that far, but it is a big step to addressing two of our biggest street-crater trouble spots. We’ll keep working with Roberts and others on the longer-term solution and let you know what we learn. In the meantime, we’re glad to see one other bit of progress, the replacement of a streetlight on Teel Way just north of 75 th Street. The top of the streetlight was knocked completely off somehow — we were told a tree-trimming crew may have done it — and we pursued AES for weeks trying to get a replacement. AES put in the new light this week...

Eagle Nest Board update for April 2026: dues, streetlights, potholes, suspicious vehicles, upcoming events and more

Image
Now that spring has sprung in Eagle Nest, summer isn’t far behind – barely two months away! With that, the Board has a few updates and event announcements to pass along: Package delivery alert: Suspicious vehicles trolling streets If you order from Amazon or other delivery sites, take note: Residents along Warbler Way recently reported suspicious vehicles (shown) driving slowly along the street, possibly looking for packages. One vehicle even tailed a U.S. Postal Service truck for blocks as it made its deliveries one day. If you expect a package to be delivered while you are away or at work, the Board suggests you ask a neighbor to grab the package for you or time your deliveries for when you are home. As always, if you see something suspicious, call 911. 200 books dumped at Clubhouse The Board appreciates donations to our Free Little Library, but at the risk of sounding ungrateful we don’t need 200 books (shown at right). On April 6, that’s what an anonymous donor dumped on our Clubho...
