Pool closed for water clarity issues until further notice
As a result, effective immediately the Board has closed the Pool
until further notice. We are actively working to partially drain the Pool, refill it and rebalance the chemicals as quickly as possible.
Barring unexpected complications, we hope to reopen by Friday,
so watch our usual communications channels for updates. This week’s free swim
lessons are canceled for the rest of the week, too.
Unfortunately, this has become an annual exercise, and the
reason our dues were increased last year to start a long-term capital improvement
fund for extensive repairs in the years ahead.
It’s worth noting the closure is so guards can clearly see
the bottom of the Pool, not because the discolored water is a health hazard. Since
opening, we have passed all of our weekly water quality tests required by the
Marion County Board of Health (copies are posted in the glass case by the bathrooms,
by the way), thanks to diligent chemical maintenance by our Pool staff.
Unfortunately, outdoor pools – especially aging facilities
like ours – can be a challenge to maintain due to various
external elements like weather, debris, bird wildlife and other factors.
That said, we are working as quickly as possible to reopen
the crown jewel of our development. We hate to be closed for even one day, but safety
always comes first. It’s worth noting that we’ve been open daily since
Memorial Day, while public facilities like nearby Sahm Park only recently opened
with limited hours of operation due to staffing issues.
That’s says a lot about our Pool team and their commitment to our
community. We hope you agree.
