Pothole repairs at Hague Road, and a streetlight finally fixed on Teel Way

City crews this week patched more than 60 Eagle Nest potholes on our main east-west street, including the minefields at the Hague Road entrance and at the three-way stop at Tanager Lane and Warbler Way.

This follows the Board’s efforts to alert our two City-County Council members and the Mayor’s Action Center. Councilor Nick Roberts answered our call and said he’s placed Tanager on his priority list for a complete repaving. This week’s patching didn’t go that far, but it is a big step to addressing two of our biggest street-crater trouble spots.

We’ll keep working with Roberts and others on the longer-term solution and let you know what we learn.

In the meantime, we’re glad to see one other bit of progress, the replacement of a streetlight on Teel Way just north of 75th Street. The top of the streetlight was knocked completely off somehow — we were told a tree-trimming crew may have done it — and we pursued AES for weeks trying to get a replacement. AES put in the new light this week, around the same time as it took care of the storm-damaged streetlight on Warbler Way.

The wheels of city government and massive utilities move slowly. But when we finally get action it’s worth remembering how neighbors working together — as they did by reportig potholes and damaged streetlights — can get action with persistence and patience.

If you spot dark or damaged streetlight, report it to AES at 317-261-8111 or here on its website. Report a pothole to the Mayor’s Action Center website here.
