Eagle Nest rumor check: Here’s what’s actually happening
There’s a lot going on in Eagle Nest: new street paving, successful Crime Watch and neighborhood social events, a complete refurbishment of our tennis courts, another busy pool season wrapping up, and important work underway to update our covenants.
So we want to make sure neighbors have accurate information.
We’ve seen a social media rumor that the Board is considering hiring an outside management company. That is not the case. The Board is not pursuing outside management. We believe it would add unnecessary expense at a time when we have strong volunteer support and are working hard to keep costs under control. We have been a resident-operated homeowner association for more than 50 years, and we have no intention of changing that.
We are managing some staff transitions and will soon post an opening for a bookkeeper to succeed a valued long-time colleague who has decided to step away. Our Clubhouse and Pool Managers also are moving on. That happens in any organization over time, and we wish them the best. Know someone who might be a good fit for these roles? Please DM us or email any Board member.
In the meantime, we may engage an independent, third-party vendor to handle our books to see us through, because we want to keep the streetlights on, the Clubhouse and sports courts maintained, bills paid, and so on, so the bookkeeper role is a priority so we have no disruptions in service.
Using a independent bookkeeper is not outsourcing management of the HOA. It’s one function. Eagle Nest has long used outside contractors for other support and services, including pool repairs, groundskeeping and snow removal. That’s very different from turning management of the association over to an outside company — something the Board is not pursuing. We welcome residents eager to play a role in the future of our community to step forward to fill our coming openings. We’ve already heard from a few.
There’s more news to come, particularly about the proposed covenants. For the latest verified information from ENPOA, watch our Facebook page, blog and resident email updates. And if you hear something elsewhere that leaves you wondering, please ask us. We’d much rather answer a question than let confusion grow.
Questions are always welcome, too. Contact Board President Scott Thien or any Board member, or join us at our next Board meeting, Sept. 10. We’re your neighbors, and like you, we want Eagle Nest to remain a strong, welcoming and well-run community.
