Sign up for recycling

Every other week, besides our blue trash bins, many Eagle Nest residents have a blue bin with a yellow top for recycling.  Our recycling is through Republic Services and costs $21 for three months. The phone number to sign up is 317-917-7300.
These are the items that they will take - Paper Products - any paper, even with some staples, newspaper, phone books, junk mail, and magazines.  They also will recycle all cardboard, file folders, poster board, cardboard boxes, milk cartons, and frozen food boxes.   Plastics - water and soda bottles, take out containers, plastics #1&7.  Metal - aluminum beverage and food cans, and scrap metal.
Republic can not recycle aluminum foil, batteries, food waste, glass mirrors, styrofoam, aerosol cans, and plastic bags.  All plastic bags including the bags the newspapers come in should be recycled at collection sites like at Walmart or Meijer.
Those residents who recycle see how much their trash is reduced each week.  I have visited the two main recycling plants here in Indy - Republic and Ray's- and it's exciting to see items reused.  Remember the 3 R's - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!
