Board Update: Free popsicles on patio, Labor Day pool closure, September food trucks, trash pickup delay

Eagle Nest residents,

Here’s a look at neighborhood news for the week of September 7:

FREE POPSICLES MONDAY AT THE POOL:
To bid farewell to another great Eagle Nest pool season, the Board is handing out free popsicles on the pool patio to kids and adults from noon to 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7, while supplies last. Adults 21+ will like the alcohol-infused varieties, too! Enjoy this last taste of summer!

POOL CLOSES LABOR DAY: A reminder that Labor Day is the last day of operations for the pool –hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and patience this season as we worked through minor delays and capacity limits due to COVID-19. (It’s worth noting that nearby Sahm Park Aquatic Center opened weeks after we did, even though the city has considerably more resources.) We know it was inconvenient, but the disruptions were necessary to ensure resident safety – our No. 1 priority. Thank you to Pool Manager Samantha Burns, Head Guard Emily Smith and the rest of the team for a great season!

SEPTEMBER FOOD TRUCK SCHEDULE: A new month means another round of food truck favorites. Who is coming to the Clubhouse for your convenience and when:
  • September 10, Backyard BBQ (4:30-7:30 p.m.) A regular at Binford Farmer’s Market, @BackyardIndy offers pulled pork and chicken, brisket, rib tips, wings, Polish sausage and mouth-watering traditional sides.
  • September 15: Union Jack Pub and Grub (5-8 p.m.). Renowned Broad Ripple favorite @UnionJackPub returns with their legendary tenderloins, pretzel bread sticks and queso, fish and chips, mac and cheese and more.
  • September 23: Jet's Pizza (5-7 p.m.). You know the drill: $5 personal pizzas, in your choice of sausage, pepperoni or cheese. Cash only. Jet’s sells out quickly, so get there early. Once they’re gone, they’re gone!
  • September 29: Chef TLC (5-8 p.m.). That’s right, the soul-infused food bus returns with burgers, strips, Indy steak and cheese sandwiches, the best fried sides and … drum roll … @Chef_tlc’s famous peach cobbler. Yes!
As always, please observe CDC guidelines on social distancing and use of masks (state mandate in effect until at least September 26), and be careful entering and leaving the Clubhouse parking lot so you don't run over neighbors. Also, the Board asks residents to park in the back lot to keep traffic pathways clear. Thank you!

STAY IN THE KNOW: A reminder that official Eagle Nest news is only available on:
The Board doesn’t monitor other platforms (i.e. Next Door, Slack, etc.), so if you have questions or concerns, please use our official communication avenues.

In other news of note …

HOLIDAY DELAYS TRASH PICKUP: Because of Labor Day, our normal Tuesday curbside trash service by Republic will push to Wednesday, Sept. 9. After pickup, please store your blue cart out of view from the development (a requirement in our neighborhood controlling documents). Do your part to avoid a trashy look!

COVID-19 UPDATE:
Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett last week announced the following updates effective at 12 a.m. September 8:
  • Bars and nightclubs can reopen using 25% of indoor seating and 50% of outdoor seating. These establishments must use table seating only, with six people maximum per table. Masks will be required when moving about the establishment, and while not eating or drinking.
  • Street closures on Massachusetts Avenue and Broad Ripple Avenue end after Labor Day.
  • The countywide mask order that began July 9 remains in effect.
Also, Gov. Eric Holcomb has extended Stage 4.5 of reopening until at least September 25 and has mandated wearing masks throughout the state.

That's it for now. As always, feel free to contact any Board member with questions, concerns or suggestions. Have a great week!

On behalf of the Board,
Scott Thien, President
