Are Tanager Lane’s speed bumps too bumpy? Let the city know


Here's an update from the Eagle Nest Street Team (a made-up name, yes, but it takes a team effort to get potholes patched, signs fixed, etc.)

It’s great that we got Tanager Lane repaved, but we’re working to fine-tune a couple of items, and you can help. They’ve replaced the speed bumps that were taken out, but we’re hearing that the bumps might have come in a little too high.

As one resident told us:

“We live on Tanager Lane, and while we are very happy with the resurfacing job that was done, I wondered if the speed bumps might be a little too tall. If we don't slow down to a crawl, the bottom of our car scrapes the speed bump. I guess some people would say that's the whole point of speed bumps, but I think these are higher than any other speed bumps I've seen before.”

Board member John Strauss is our temporary lead for streets and sidewalks — and we’re looking for a volunteer, in case that role sounds interesting. Sunday, he got to work after hearing from three residents about this.

What’s been done so far
  • Reached out to Dhara Marquez, Mayor’s Neighborhood Advocate, Area 1, dhara.marquez@indy.gov, 317-327-5121, asking her to alert the Department of Public Works (DPW) about the issue and to ask them to measure the speed bumps to see if they conform to the standard and whether they can be adjusted.
  • Submitted a Service Request with the Mayor’s Action Center, 317-327-4622, alerting them to the concern and asking that DPW investigate this. The ticket number on that request is 26-00115051, and you can check the status online.
What you can do

We’ll share any updates that we get from the mayor’s office and DPW. In the meantime, please share your concerns with those contacts, too. Simply reach out to the Mayor’s Action Center and our Mayor’s Neighborhood Advocate with the contact info above.

They need to understand that this isn’t just an issue for a couple people. Improperly installed speed bumps could be a school bus problem when classes resume. They need to be the right height so ambulances, fire trucks and other emergency services can do their jobs. And let them know you support our request to restore the reflective striping, which makes the bumps visible at night, just like they were before the repaving.

Board May update: Pool opening, pool fobs, dues update, Board election, tennis court repairs, neighborhood garage sale

Memorial Day is the traditional unofficial start of summer — and that means a lot of upcoming activities in Eagle Nest! A quick rundown of what to expect: Pool opening: The good news? The Pool will be open daily noon to 8 p.m., starting Memorial Day, Monday, May 25. Popsicles and adult beverages will be available for kids and adults, respectively, that first day. P lease familiarize yourself with our  Pool rules here . Questions? Contact new Co-Pool Managers Ken Burns (daily operations and facility maintenance) or Andrew Taylor (administration and Pool fobs).  The bad news? Eagle Nest Board update for April 2026: dues, streetlights, potholes, suspicious vehicles, upcoming events and more

Now that spring has sprung in Eagle Nest, summer isn’t far behind – barely two months away! With that, the Board has a few updates and event announcements to pass along: Package delivery alert: Suspicious vehicles trolling streets If you order from Amazon or other delivery sites, take note: Residents along Warbler Way recently reported suspicious vehicles (shown) driving slowly along the street, possibly looking for packages. One vehicle even tailed a U.S. Postal Service truck for blocks as it made its deliveries one day. If you expect a package to be delivered while you are away or at work, the Board suggests you ask a neighbor to grab the package for you or time your deliveries for when you are home.
