Eagle Nest seeks part-time bookkeeper
Are you an experienced bookkeeper or accounting professional looking for a flexible part-time opportunity? Would you enjoy helping a neighborhood organization maintain strong financial practices while finding new ways to make its systems more efficient and convenient?
The Eagle Nest Property Owners Association is seeking a part-time bookkeeper to succeed longtime employee Chris’e Van Meter, who is moving on after nearly 10 years in the role.
During her tenure, Chris’e helped transform a basic bookkeeping position into a well-organized financial operation built on sound accounting practices, accountability and responsive service to residents. We’re grateful for what she has built and want those standards to continue.
At the same time, the Association is interested in using modern tools, technology and practices to make its financial operations as efficient and accessible as possible. The ideal candidate will bring solid bookkeeping experience, attention to detail, good communication skills and an interest in helping us improve the way we work.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable, including bill payment.
- Submitting payroll to ADP for our part-time staff.
- Coding receipts and entering transactions into the appropriate general-ledger accounts in QuickBooks.
- Reconciling bank statements and debit-card transactions.
- Maintaining timely and accurate QuickBooks entries and homeowner lot/account records.
- Scanning receipts and attaching documentation to the appropriate transactions.
- Corresponding with title companies, providing account statements and collecting applicable fees.
- Recording ownership changes associated with deeds and title transfers.
- Maintaining and updating monthly and annual budget spreadsheets.
- Preparing, accounting for and mailing annual dues notices.
- Preparing monthly financial reports for the Board, including dues-collection updates and budget forecasts.
- Performing other bookkeeping and related administrative duties, as needed.
Candidates should have bookkeeping or accounting experience and be comfortable working independently. Proficiency with QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel and Word is required, along with familiarity with Zoom. Experience working with an HOA, nonprofit, small business or similar organization would be helpful.
We are particularly interested in someone who values accuracy, transparency, accountability and good service to residents, and who can help us identify opportunities to streamline or modernize our financial processes.
Compensation and application
Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Interested candidates should send a resume and brief cover letter to Board President Scott Thien at scottthien@comcast.net by close of business Wednesday, Sept. 16.
