Free swim lessons this month for Eagle Nest residents; signup sheets at Pool

Continuing a great Eagle Nest Pool tradition, our fantastic lifeguard staff will conduct free swimming lessons during the weeks of June 20 and June 27. Lessons will be offered in the mornings in half-hour blocks from 9 to 9:30 a.m., 9:30 to 10 a.m. and 10 to 10:30 a.m., and then again in the evenings from 7 to 7:30 p.m. and 7:30 to 8 p.m.

Look for the signup sheets at the Pool or ask any lifeguard for more information. Questions also can be emailed to Pool Manager Susan Anderson at saanderson16@yahoo.com. Only residents in good standing are permitted. Sorry, no non-residents, either.

Speaking of the Pool, following are the hours of operation: Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.(open until 10 p.m. on  Thursdays for Family Fun Nights), and Sunday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. (Slight adjustments will be made during swim lesson weeks).

Each year, it gets harder and harder to pick the winners in the annual Holiday Lights Contest – and that’s a good thing. It’s so refreshing, uplifting and encouraging to see the spirit of the holidays on full display across the neighborhood, in big ways and small. This year’s panel of judges – a Board member’s relatives visiting from Florida and Belgium (no joke!) – were amazed by the effort so many homeowners put into decorating their lots and homes. Board Update: Pool Party with free food, new fob access, cleanup crew recap; Annual Garage Sale June 7-8; dues deadlines approaching and more!

Hello, Eagle Nesters! The Board hopes your spring is off to a great start. It’s hard to believe with all the cold, rainy weather of April that the Pool will be open in barely a month. In preparation for that, it’s time to share a few updates about the 2024 swim season: Nearly a dozen residents turn out to deep clean the Pool A huge thanks goes out to the volunteer team led by Bittern Lane residents John and Cindy Spicklemire for organizing a deep clean of Pool facility on Saturday, April 27. The team of 12 spent hours power washing the chairs to address years of sunblock stains and removing wall grime, while others pulled weeds, cleaned the tables and swept up debris. In return, the Board brought in Jimmy John’s sandwiches, chips and water to keep our cleaning crew fueled up. That was a small price to pay for what would have cost thousands of dollars in labor and time to hire a contractor to do the same work.
