Board Update: Free Kona Ice snow cones at Annual Party, Pool hours adjusted, Food Truck Tuesday with Bearded Burgers
Hello Eagle Nest
residents,
Here is the
latest neighborhood news for the week of July 26:
KONA ICE COMING
TO ANNUAL PARTY ON SUNDAY, AUG. 1
Here’s something
the kids don’t want to miss: free Kona Ice snow cones at the Annual Party!
That’s right, from noon to 2 p.m. in the Clubhouse parking lot, the Board is
treating every little Eagle Nester (OK, adults, too) to a free 8-ounce shaved
ice cup. And here’s the fun part: Everyone can pour on their favorite flavors
from a wide range of self-serve choices. Simply present your Pool pass to get
your freebie. (One cone per person, please.)
Some of you may
remember we invited Kona Ice to the Clubhouse last year, and they were a huge
hit among families. We’re looking forward to another great visit this Sunday.
Don’t forget
there’s free lunch inside the Clubhouse, too! The Board is providing free fried
chicken, side salads, lemonade and beer (for those 21 and older). Per tradition, we ask residents to
bring/donate a side salad, tray of assorted cheese and crackers or fruit,
chips, dips, etc., for neighbors to enjoy. We’ll have tables set up inside the
Clubhouse so you can eat and meet fellow Eagle Nesters. Families are welcome to
eat outside in the upper pool patio, too. It’s all to say thank you
for making our neighborhood a residential destination! Hope to see you there!
POOL HOURS
CHANGE THIS WEEK FOR REST OF SEASON
With school starting in the coming weeks, our Pool operating hours will be
adjusted to accommodate our lifeguards’ availability. Effective Monday, July
26, the Pool will be open weekdays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with the first and
last half hour daily reserved for adult swim. Weekend hours are changing, too:
Saturdays and Sundays the facility will be open from noon to 6 p.m., with the
first and last half hour daily for adult swim. These changes are effective the
rest of the season.
We know these changes
may be inconvenient or surprising for some, but our Pool staffing flexes every
year as vacations wind down and pool use drops. Even with reduced hours, Eagle
Nest still provides a venue and service unmatched in several parts of the city. As might know, many area pools struggled to
open because of lifeguard shortages. In fact, Indianapolis barely opened half of its 20 city pools this year, including nearby Sahm Park. Luckily, we secured
our staff early and have been operational nearly every day since Memorial Day.
In other pool news: Unfortunately, a lifeguard’s bike was
stolen last Friday from the bike rack on the east side of the Clubhouse. We
rarely have trouble with theft at the Pool, so this bad news comes as a
surprise. If you or a family member ride your bike to the Pool, we encourage
you to bring a lock to secure your property.
FOOD TRUCK TUESDAY: IT’S BEARDED BURGER!
Summer is made for cookouts, but sometimes you’re hungry
and there’s no time to fire up the grill. No worries, Bearded Burger has you
covered. This week’s Food Truck Tuesday guest is a new concept from the same
folks who operate the Bearded Bagel (formerly Bagel Boss). The menu is simple
but delicious: smashburgers with fries, chicken sandwiches with fries, or
chicken tenders with fries. Incredible sides include fried corn nuggets, bacon
mac’n cheese bites, fries, tater tots and onion rings. Oh, don’t forget you can
add bacon to your burger or chicken sandwich!
@BeardedBurger is a
continuation of our weekly partnerships with local food vendors. Every Tuesday
is a food truck, and every Thursday is Jet’s Pizza through September. Check the blog Events page to see
who’s coming next and when.

OTHER NEWS:
SIGNAGE POLICY: A reminder that yard signs are not
permitted without Board approval. We’ve seen a few pop up around the
development in the wake of the June 18 hail storm, but unfortunately these do
not qualify for display, per the Eagle
Nest Signage Policy approved by the Board of
Directors on January 31, 2021, and recorded with Marion County on February
23, 2021, as part of the Association's Declarations of Restrictions.
Exception: Contractors signs are permitted only on the day of active repairs –
generic promotion signs are not.
Unapproved signs will be removed. Got a sign you want to display? Submit a
request -- just snap a photo of the sign and email it with a description
(materials, size, duration of display) to RulesRestrictions@att.net. (That also is the email address to
submit proposed plans for exterior lot improvements.) Thanks for your
cooperation in keeping our neighborhood a commercial-free zone.
On behalf of the Board,
ScottThien, President
