Little Free Library in Eagle Nest!

Image
A new house will be erected in Eagle Nest the first weekend in June! A Free Little Library, donated by long-time resident Annette Donegan, will be set up at the Clubhouse for our whole community. There are more than 65,000 Little Free Libraries across the country with the motto - Take a book, Return a book. And now Eagle Nest is among those locations. "Being an educator, I have a passion for reading," said Annette, who taught first grade at Nora Elementary for 38 years and who has lived in Eagle Nest for 32 years. "I felt like we had a great location at the Clubhouse. Many kids don't have access to books or haven't discovered the joy of reading." After learning about the Free Libraries, Annette designed one and found a carpenter who helped her build it. Eagle Nest resident and artist Sheila Jackson painted designs on the sides. Another resident, Don Ugoletti, installed the Little Library in the area near the Clubhouse bike rack. Don and his daughter, M

A word about Pool tags, dues, tennis courts, potholes, Annual Meeting, etc.

Fellow residents, Now that the nice (and humid) spring weather is here, it's time to catch up on a few neighborhood housekeeping items as we march toward another great summer in Eagle Nest: Pool tags: They are in the mail to all residents who have paid their 2018 dues as of May 1 and are current/in good standing with the association. Be on the lookout for a business-sized envelope containing your tags and a reminder list of pool rules and upcoming social activities. If you paid your dues after the May 1 deadline, delivery of your Pool tags may be delayed because we are focusing on residents who paid on time first. Please note: All residents must present their 2018 tag upon request by our lifeguard staff in order to use the Pool. No tag? No admittance -- including the facility opening Memorial Day weekend. No exceptions. Pool rules: A copy of the rules is included with your tags. The rules exist for your safety and your fellow Pool patrons. Please observe the rules, and fol

A word about annual dues and late fees

Fellow Eagle Nest residents, Just a quick update about our annual dues, which were payable by May 1. If you have not paid yet, the full amount of $400 is now due, which includes the loss of the $25 homeowner-in-good-standing credit. If dues are not paid by June 1, the amount will increase to $450, which factors in a $50 late fee. Your account also will be turned over to the association's attorney for collection. We hope it won't come to that, of course. April emails that were sent to residents who had not paid, as well as an earlier blog post, indicated that the May 1 amount due would be $450. However, a review of the January dues letter to residents stated the amount due after May 1 was $400. Though it was the original intent of the Board to assess the $50 late fee as of May 1 (making the amount due $450), a majority of members agreed that the Board did not effectively communicate that in January and have voted to stick with the original language of the 2018 dues corre
