Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest winners announced!

Image
The results of our first Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest are in, and we have some fantastic creations to unveil! Congratulations to our first, second and third place winners for showing off their positive creativity: Fischer family, 7800 block of Teel Way; Boits family, 8300 block of Dove Court; and Gardner family, 8000 block of Teel Way. All of our top finishers win two Jet’s Pizzas, redeemable any Thursday night at the Clubhouse (5-7 p.m., weather permitting). We thank all those who submitted entries. Our judging committee received a lot of positive feedback about the contest, so watch the blog, Facebook and weekly email blasts for dates on another contest soon! (We realize not all lots have sidewalks, but the streets and curbs in the courts are acceptable canvasses, too.) Great job, kids – you inspire us all during these stressful COVID-19 times! What's next on our social activity calendar? Check the blog events link for more information!

Board Update: Pool use changes, food truck Tuesday, event updates, new sidewalk chalk art contest deadline

Hello Eagle Nest residents! Here is what’s ahead in Eagle Nest for the week of July 27: POOL USE CHANGES: Effective Monday, July 27, social gatherings – and the Eagle Nest Board interprets that as use of our community pool and Clubhouse – will be limited to 50 people at any one time, per newly issued guidance provided by Indiana Gov. Holcomb. In addition, per a city mandate issued by Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett, patrons older than age 8 are expected to wear a mask while inside the facilities if social distancing is not possible. The mask requirement does not apply to anyone in the pool. Signed waivers must be on file with the Board before any use of the pool or Clubhouse. Because our lifeguard staff is the front line, they have the authority to eject patrons for non-compliance or close the facility, if needed. We hope it won’t come to that, of course. The Eagle Nest Board fully supports these measures to ensure the health and safety of our residents, and we ask for

Board update, re: Annual Meeting election results, July food truck schedule, IMPD substation opens

Image
First off, the Board wishes everyone a happy and safe Fourth of July. We hope everyone can spend time with family this holiday weekend and enjoy our wonderful neighborhood assets, including the pool, sports courts, the little library and playground. Few area communities can match Eagle Nest’s amenities – and that includes the friendliest neighbors around! If you use our community facilities, please respect social distancing guidelines whenever possible, and keep our grounds and facilities clean and free of debris. If you see something out of order, please contact any Board member to report it. Lastly, we know fireworks are a given this weekend, but please be respectful of your neighbors and not celebrate too late. Happy Independence Day! Other neighborhood news of note: BOARD ELECTION RESULTS: Thanks to all residents who turned in ballots for the Board of Directors election at the Annual Meeting. All four candidates – Kim Isaak, Brian Schneider, Scott Thien and Jason V

IMPD substation opens in Shadeland Station; donations sought via GoFundMe

Image
Eagle Nest residents, In case you haven’t heard the great news, the new IMPD Substation is now open in Shadeland Station Shopping Center, at 75th Street and North Shadeland Avenue. The effort, led by the North Shadeland Alliance , will provide an increased police presence in our area and help strengthen community ties. The North Shadeland Alliance is a partner of the nonprofit BRAG (Binford Redevelopment and Growth Inc.), which is dedicated to improving the quality of life and economic activity in our area. More than $5,300 of the initial $10,000 startup goal has been raised for supplies, furniture, cleaning services and maintenance, and signage on the building and street. Organizers of the North Shadeland Alliance continue to seek local resident and corporate support to cover the substation’s annual operating costs, estimated to be about $7,000. To contribute, a GoFundMe page has been set up for donations: https://www.gofundme.com/f/impd-substation-shadeland-avenue If you

Annual Independence Day Parade and potluck canceled

Image
Eagle Nest residents, Due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns and last year's light turnout, the Board has canceled this week's annual Independence Day Parade at the Clubhouse. The event traditionally included a potluck feast at the end, but managing health standards in today's climate would be difficult. The Board still celebrates our country's independence, of course, and we encourage everyone to fly the U.S. flag in celebration. And, if you plan to do fireworks, please be respectful of your neighbors and observe local celebration hours. Thank you for your understanding.
