Simply put, thank you, Eagle Nest. More than two dozen residents answered our callout to go online and report the multiple growing potholes at our Hague Road entrance. And in less than a week, the potholes were filled, as well as others along Tanager Lane all the way to our four-way stop! Such an organized response helped push things along, but huge thanks also goes City Councilors Nick Roberts (District 3) and Dan Boots (District 4) for their help in escalating our campaign. At a recent BRAG meeting, they were told our entrance was on the verge of becoming impassable without city intervention. In response, both underscored the importance of filing reports on the city’s website so the volume of requests can be tracked. The more reports filed, the higher priority they get in city repair schedules, they said. Imagine just two weeks before Christmas, a fire completely guts your home and all virtually everything inside. That’s what happened in 2023 to the Ramirez family at 8104 Tanager Court (above left). Thankfully, no one suffered serious injuries, which is remarkable given several children had to jump out of second-story windows into the arms of family members below. In the weeks that followed that tragic event, Eagle Nest residents raised more than $4,000 through a Go Fund Me page to help the family buy food, necessities and temporary housing. The family has since rebuilt the home (top right) – even expanded it – and moved back in this month. Happy Easter, Eagle Nest residents! Just a few pics from Saturday’s annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Clubhouse. Nearly 50 kids and parents enjoyed a well-timed break in the rain to clear the Clubhouse lawn of 200+ candy-filled plastic eggs within mere minutes! Thanks to Social Co-chairs Sarah Craney and Marcella Kates and Clubhouse Manager Kelly Dentler for organizing the event. Several residents commented that it was a great break and welcome distraction from the severe overnight storms that knocked out power for most of the neighborhood several hours Saturday morning. What’s next on the social calendar? Our Pool opening Memorial Day weekend! The Easter Egg Hunt is on! See you at 2 p.m.! .................................... Check back at 1:30 p.m. today (April 19) to see if our annual Easter Egg Hunt will go on as planned at 2 p.m. outside the Clubhouse. At this time, the Social Committee is looking to move the egg hunt to the flat lawn next to the front parking lot, as the hill by the playground is too wet and mushy for a safe event. Sure, the eggs will be in plain view, but we have to do something with the hundreds of candy-filled plastic eggs we prepared. As previously mentioned, we'll let the toddlers go first, then after two minutes the yard will open up to the older kids. The eggs will go fast, so don't be late (assuming the event goes on, as scheduled). Not your traditional Easter event, we know, but maybe the kids will be ready for a fun distraction after the overnight storms and early morning neighborhood power failure. 82 nd Street road construction closure April 7-15 According to an April 2 release from the City of Indianapolis, 82 nd Street will be closed starting Monday, April 7, to Tuesday, April 15, between Craig Street and Castleton Road (basically between Speedway and Sparkling Image) for Nickel Plate Trail construction and railroad track removal. Detour signage will direct drivers to use Allisonville Road, 96th Street and I-69 to navigate around the closure. Businesses in the area will remain accessible to the public, Roberts wrote. Don’t get caught off guard! Plan ahead and leave early for work or school, as this will be a major disruption for the next week. (Take note, Starbucks lovers!)
