After record snowfall, Board forms Eagle Nest Wellness Team as residents step up for each other

Image
In the best Eagle Nest tradition, residents pitched in to help each other as this week's storm dropped more than 11.1 inches of snow on the city -- the largest snowfall in more than 10 years. Unfortunately, many residents were trapped inside due to the bitter cold, snow-covered driveways and horrid road conditions after the storm. That’s why the Board is looking to put together a list of volunteers to assist seniors or others with challenges who may be shut in by this week's weather. We’re looking for representatives for each street to reach out with a friendly knock on the door or a phone call to ensure all is well with their neighbors. Or maybe even pick up an extra item or two at the store when you’re out. New! Eagle Nest Wellness Team It’s called the Eagle Nest Wellness Team. Want in? Contact Board President Scott Thien at scottthien@comcast.net or 317-902-3103 and we’ll get you plugged in, either as someone who wants to be on our check-in list or as someone to do ...

Snow plowing update as of 10 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25

Image
We want to thank residents for their patience and understanding during today's snowstorm and our subsequent plowing efforts. Indianapolis officially received 8.6 inches of snow, breaking the previous Jan. 25 record of 4.9 inches set in 1978. (Over the past two days, the city received 10.6 inches, the most since 10.2 inches fell on March 24, 2018.) That much continuous snow made it impossible to  complete the neighborhood in one job. For those who may be new or need a refresher, the initial goal in any big storm is to make Eagle Nest passable, then follow up with touchups. By the end of the day, we were in better shape than many area developments. But we know we have more work to do.  Problem areas remain Among the priorities: Several cul-de-sacs need further addressing; deep snow ruts need to be removed from intersections; and plows need to get closer to curbs throughout the development. We have reached out to our contractor and expect these issues will be resolved throughout ...

Snow plowing update as of 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25

Image
First off, we hope everyone is staying warm and safe during our first major snowstorm of 2026. Ah, Midwest life. Where things stand Our plowing contractor started about 2 p.m. and wrapped up work about 5 p.m. after making all eight miles of our roadways passable for police and emergency vehicles. Many cul-de-sacs were skipped initially so that our main roads could be addressed. If your court has not been plowed with at least one pass through, please let us know. In addition, we aware a few cul-de-sac driveways were unintentionally blocked by piles of snow, so our contractor will address those on Monday. What's next Another 2-3 inches of snow is possible through the night, so our team will be out again Monday for cleanup plowing. If you or our neighbors have vehicles parked in the roadway (namely along Tanager Lane, Teel Way or any cul-de-sac), please move them into your driveways so our plowing contractor can work efficiently and safely. The Board is not responsible for any plowed ...

Board seeks new Pool Manager for 2026 swim season

Looking for a way to give back to the Eagle Nest community? Want a hand in operating our wonderful Pool facility? Interested in managing our experienced lifeguard staff and coordinating occasional pool events? Enjoy engaging with residents in a fun, relaxing environment? The Eagle Nest Board has a job for you! We are seeking a new Pool Manager to replace long-time employee Samantha Burns, who is stepping down due to an increasingly busy work and personal schedule. Sam (right) has been connected with the pool for more than a decade, starting first as a guard, then head guard and lastly as manager. She has been a reliable, behind-the-scenes hero in keeping our pumps running, ensuring water quality met health-code standards, juggling staff schedules, and coordinating service calls, among other things. Under her leadership, our Pool has remained open daily and fully staffed, year after year. Her institutional knowledge will be greatly missed! So now, the search has begun for our next Pool ...

Crime Watch alert: Man enters fenced back yard, stares into home on Warbler Way

Image
Residents are advised to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police after an intruder incident Friday, Jan. 9, on Warbler Way. Between 10-11 p.m., a man wearing an orange top entered a fenced back yard and stared at a babysitter in the home for several minutes, the homeowner told the Eagle Nest Board. The babysitter called her parents to the house, but the intruder was gone before they arrived. Police were called and they did a sweep of the area but didn’t find anything. No injuries or damage were reported. What you can do If you live on Warbler Way and have Ring camera or other security video device that captured any suspicious individuals or activity during that time, please contact any Eagle Nest Board member . The incident serves as a good reminder that while our neighborhood is among the safest in the area, crime knows no boundaries. Safety tips Residents are advised to always keep doors and windows locked, secure vehicles in closed garages, and turn on exterior li...

Still have your old blue trash cart? Two-week pickup window begins Monday, Jan. 12

Image
Eagle Nest residents, As you know, the City of Indianapolis recently switched residential trash service providers from Republic to LRS in Marion County. In recent weeks, most of the old blue trash carts have been replaced with new gray bins. Unfortunately, some residents still have their blue carts, largely because LRS information about pickup dates for the discontinued carts has been unclear and incomplete.  Until now. Eagle Nest Board member Ben Clemons recently contacted the Mayor’s Action Center about the remaining blue Republic carts in our neighborhood. He secured a two-week pickup window, starting Monday, Jan. 12 , for all remaining blue trash carts. (Case #2500002060) If you still have a blue trash cart, the city asks that you put it out to the curb by Monday, Jan. 12, and leave it there – empty -- for pickup within the next two weeks. (We’re told it may happen sooner, possibly within seven days.) The cart pickup does not include the yellow-topped recycling carts. Sure, our...
