Board Update: Annual dues reminder, 2022 social events, fixing those dangerous potholes, trash carts and more

Image
REMINDER: PAY YOUR ANNUAL DUES BY MAY 1 A quick thank you to the nearly 150 residents – about one-third of the neighborhood -- who have paid annual dues so far. As a reminder, invoices were mailed in mid-February to all lot owners and are payable by May 1. Your prompt payments help keep the streetlights on, grounds maintained and our Clubhouse and other community assets in top shape. If you didn’t receive your dues invoice in the U.S. mail or via email, please contact Secretary/Admin Lead Chris’e Van Meter at enpoa_sec@att.net . And don’t forget to include your Pool tags request form on the back of the dues letter when you submit your payment. 2022 SOCIAL EVENTS CALENDAR SHAPING UP With winter quickly coming to a close (fingers crossed no more snow!), the Board is ramping up another great year of social events for our residents, both kids and adults! More details will be coming soon, but for now save these dates: April 16: Annual Easter Egg hunt at the Clubhouse May 1: Sports court...

Board Update: Please move your vehicles before storm hits, North Shadeland Alliance e-newsletter, status of downed streetlight

Image
As you know, Indianapolis is expecting its first major snowstorm of the season beginning Wednesday night, Feb. 2, through Thursday, Feb. 3. To help ensure the safety of residents, the Board requests residents remove all vehicles from the roadways and courts so our plowing contractor can work quickly and efficiently. Neither the Board nor its plowing contractor will be responsible for vehicles that are "plowed in" on streets because they weren’t moved. In addition, any vehicle that poses a safety hazard – particularly those on curves or at intersections – will be towed in the interest of public safety. Please spread the word. If your neighbor routinely parks in the street, please help us and ask them to move their vehicle(s) for the sake of our community. We realize it may be a temporary inconvenience, but nobody likes having to navigate around dangerous snow mounds left by cars during deep-freeze months. Also, please be patient. We will plow the neighborhood -- twice if neede...

Board Update: 2021 in review, coming in 2022, directories, IMPD donations, parking reminder

A LOOK BACK AT 2021 – AND WHAT’S AHEAD IN 2022 As we usher in 2022, the Board hopes everyone’s new year is off to a happy and healthy start. We also would like to thank all our residents for making Eagle Nest the best neighborhood around in 2021. It was a busy year, to be sure, despite the continued COVID-19 climate, economic uncertainty for many and what seems to be an increasingly complicated way of life. But that didn’t slow us down from enjoying a busy – and socially distanced and safe – social calendar, including our annual party, another great pool season with swim lessons, food trucks, pizza and snow cone giveaways, our first dog pool swim and first neighborhood collector car show , our quarterly Crime Watch meetings, and another Santa neighborhood drive-thru . And we look forward to more of the same this year! Nothing is certain, of course, as the health and safety of our residents comes first. But circumstances permitting, we’re looking to bring back our annual Beer Fes...

2021 Holiday Lights Contest: And the winners are ...

Image
Could there be any area neighborhood with more holiday spirit than Eagle Nest? The answer is no, judging by the 100+ homes decorated with all the colorful blinking lights and flashing yard decorations. And that made judging for this year’s Holiday Lights Contest a real challenge. The stakes were big, too: First prize is a $50 gift card (with smaller prizes for second and third place), but more importantly bragging rights as the homeowners with the most holiday spirit. And so, drum roll, please … the winners are: First place:  8250 Warbler Way (above), Tom and Cindy Corbett, Lot 120, near the north end of Bittern Lane. Said one judge: “It’s hard not to notice this display . At first, it comes across as a little ‘extra,’ as the kids say, but the display definitely has the ‘wow’ factor.” This is the Corbetts’ fourth win since the contest started in 2012. They also placed first in 2020, 2019 and 2014. Their prize: $50 gift card. Second place:  7814 Nightingale Court (above), Will ...

Santa Drive-Thru draws dozens of families (See our photo gallery!)

Image
It was a jolly good time during last weekend’s 2nd Annual Santa Neighborhood Drive-Thru. Santa and Mrs. Claus (aka residents Tom and Cindy Corbett) and their elf helper (aka resident Lindsey Dix Holmes) braved the cold weather for several hours making about 50 stops throughout the development. Photo gallery: Click here to see Santa’s visit to the neighborhood. Santa’s sleigh was in the repair shop getting ready for his big night out, so resident Jack O’Tain stepped up by lending his pickup – wrapped in Christmas lights and playing Christmas music – for the neighborhood tour. Dozens of families turned out for the candy toss, Santa selfies and plenty of laughs. Thanks go out to all the residents who donated snacks, drinks and cleaning supplies in the Board’s neighborhood drive to support our nearby IMPD substation. Santa was thankful for many homemade cookies handed out by residents, too, as well as the handwritten Christmas wish-list letters from kids — touching proof that the spirit o...

REMINDER: Santa drive-thru this Sunday (IMPD donation collections, too!)

Image
Hello, Eagle Nest residents! Grab the kids and your camera phone -- Santa, Mrs. Claus and an elf or two are coming Sunday (December 19)! Starting at 3:30 p.m., their annual trek through the neighborhood will begin at 82nd Street, then head south along Teel Way. They will hit every court and side street along the way, so be ready for his candy toss and fun family photo opportunities! The farther you live from 82nd Street, the later Santa's visit. Last year, his tour took about two hours with all the stops for selfies and family photos. (At this writing, more than two dozen families have requested stops.) But don’t worry – we’ll hit every corner of our development. Want to ensure you're on Santa's list of stops? Email scottthien@comcast.net . We look forward to seeing you this holiday season!
