Recycling services available in Eagle Nest

Every other week, many residents of Eagle Nest set out big blue recycling containers filled with items that are recycled instead of adding to their garbage waste.  Republic Services has offered this service to our neighborhood for many years.  Every family's goal should be to reduce the amount of trash produced; curbside pick-up is a convenient way to accomplish this.

Republic Services recycles everything except styrofoam.  This includes all plastics 1-7, glass, aluminum cans, plastic sacks (including the newspaper bags), all paper, and cardboard that includes food boxes like cereals and cake mixes.  They pick up every other week (on our Monday trash day), and the charge is $19.50 for three months.  They give customers the 96 gallon blue recycling container.

Citizens shouldn't have to pay for recycling.  Indianapolis is very behind other communities in not rewarding citizens for recycling, but that will undoubtedly change in the future.  Many Eagle Nest residents who want to recycle and not pay for the service take their recycling to collection sites such as Kroger or Sahm Park.  These sites take common recyclables, but only take plastics 1&2 and not cardboard.

If you're interested in trying this service, call Republic at 317-917-7300, Ex. 0.  Republic will deliver a container in 5-7 days.  Thanks to all the Eagle Nest residents who recycle whether it's using Republic or taking items to collection centers.  Going green is good for the environment and the neighborhood!
