Reminder: Dues late after June 1, unpaid accounts sent for collection

Eagle Nest residents, a reminder that one week from today -- Sunday, June 1 -- is the deadline to pay your annual neighborhood association dues. The total for 2014 is $350, which includes a $40 credit (issued three consecutive years, by the way). After that, all unpaid accounts will be turned over to our legal representation for collection. Once in the hands of our attorney, the ENPOA Board no longer controls delinquent accounts. Residents will be responsible for legal fees as well as a late fee. Further, any accounts unpaid by June 1 will result in the suspension of neighborhood privileges (i.e. no pool access, no clubhouse access or rental, etc.) until the accounts are brought current with our law firm. For perspective, five homeowners were unpaid in 2013 -- and those accounts remain in collection status, incurring court costs, legal fees and late fees. From a budget standpoint, those missing funds equal the neighborhood's electricity bill for one month (we pay for streetli

Pool bathrooms remodeling project underway; completion set for June

You may have noticed a flurry of activity at the Clubhouse recently. The Board's Pool Bathroom remodeling project is underway, a long overdue modernization that will include ADA accessible toilets, showers, baby changing stations, a storage/locker area for the lifeguard staff, wider doors and improved access and security. The project is the first major renovation of any type for the Clubhouse since the structure was built during our neighborhood's birth. In short, it was long overdue. Completion is targeted for mid- to late June, which means portable latrines (one for men, one for women) will be available for residents during the construction period. (Parents, if you have small children the Board recommends you accompany them to the latrines during pool use.) The Board had intended for the project to be completed by pool opening weekend, however several unforeseen glitches popped up during the off-season. Chief among them: The extreme cold caused a pipe burst between the

Residents join Activities Committee

Two Eagle Nest residents have stepped up to join the Activities Committee to plan fun events for all residents. Renee Schwegman and Kathy Cruz join Kelly Wright, Angie Corkwell, Kelly Dentler, Chris'e Van Meter and Alice Miley in planning activities that will enable neighbors to get to know each other better. Renee and her husband Jeff have lived in Eagle Nest for seven years. They have two children. Kathy, who is Renee's sister, has lived here for five years with her husband Charlie, and they also have two children. Any resident who wants to join the Activities Committee should contact Alice Miley at alicemiley23@gmail.com. -- Submitted by Alice Miley

Summer Activities Schedule Set

Eagle Nest's Activities Committee has set the summer activities schedule for the neighborhood. We're looking forward to a GREAT summer pool season after our long winter! For starters, plan to attend the Ice Cream Social on Monday, May 26, from 3-5 p.m. to celebrate the opening weekend for the pool. Every Thursday night throughout the summer, the Family Fun night at the pool will be accompanied by some special fun. Last year, Marco's Pizza sold $5 medium pizzas from the Clubhouse parking lot, and we will continue this popular activity for this summer. We will publicize the specific food truck closer to the date. A new event for this year will be the 4th of July Parade with a Hot Dog/Pitch-in celebration following. Kids can decorate their bikes or wagons for a short parade. The summer will conclude with the annual pool party on Sunday, Aug. 10. Plan to join us at the clubhouse this summer and get to know your Eagle Nest neighbors better. ACTIVITIES (full schedule to

Citizens utility begins lift station replacement project on Warbler Way

As residents along Warbler Way have noticed, Citizens Energy Group has begun a project to replace the aging sewer lift control station on the south end of the street. The project calls for the removal of the control panel box and replacement with an updated, similarly sized unit. The utility has been granted right-of-way access from neighbors bordering the project. It's possible that the project will require the tear up of pavement in front of the lift station, Citizens officials say, depending on the condition of the feeder sewer lines. It's unclear whether water and sewer service be disrupted at any point during the project. When completed, the utility will install a privacy fence around the unit and replace landscaping. The project is expected to take three months and will be financed by the utility. No Eagle Funds will be used to support the project. Residents along Warbler Way were notified by mail about the project a couple months ago. Please use caution while
