Beer Fest III draws record crowd!

Simply put, our Brew Fest III was a hit. A record turnout of about 40 people filled the Clubhouse on Saturday, Jan. 30, for a great night of food, conversation, card games, karaoke and, well, ... beer, of course.

A mix of new and longtime residents from virtually every corner of the neighborhood brought nearly 20 growlers of various IPAs, pilsners, ales, among other styles, from area craft breweries, including Sunking, Upland, Books and Brew, Bier, Black Acre and Blind Owl. It was an impressive display of brews to be sure, with something for nearly every discerning palate.

As the night progressed, things got a little interesting when Board member Kim Isaak broke out her karaoke machine. Several of those on hand took their turn at the mic, providing plenty of laughs as "singers" performed their take on popular songs.

Our fantastic Social Committee provided a wonderful spread of munchies, including croissant sandwiches, wings, cheese and crackers, trail mix, chips and salsa and guacamole, and residents pitched in a few sweat dessert treats. The kitchen counter was empty by night's end, proof that nobody went home hungry. Every hour, the Social Committee gave away $25 gift certificates in random drawings.

Suffice to say, it was great to see so many neighbors come together at the Clubhouse and make new acquaintances. Feeling left out? Several who attended suggested the Board host more adult-only events like this, so keep your eye on your favorite Eagle Nest blog for developments. As always, ideas are welcome so feel free to contact any Board member with suggestions.

Special thanks go to Secretary/Bookkeeper Chris'e Van Meter, Clubhouse Manager Kelly Dentler and Social Committee member and Board member Alice Miley for their time and effort in organizing the event. Great time -- well done! -- Submitted by Scott Thien
