IMPD plans April 23 open house for new Satellite Station at N. Shadeland church

As Eagle Nest residents may know, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department recently opened a Satellite Station at Castleton United Methodist Church, 7101 N. Shadeland Ave. Having IMPD officers frequenting the area is a good thing, of course, because it will raise their visibility and serve as a deterrent to crime.

In order to build a stronger relationship between area residents and the officers who patrol our neighborhood, IMPD plans an open house of the Satellite Station from 12 noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 23.

The family friendly event is free and open to all homeowner association members and area residents, including Eagle Nest. Highlights:

-- meet and greet the men and women of IMPD in person
-- snap a ''selfie" with police officers
-- police cars will be on display
-- games and goodie bags for kids
-- child ID kits will be provided
-- Area businesses are providing burger, hot dogs and beverages

The event was organized in cooperation with Denise Lewis-Veteto, BRAG's Commercial Crime Watch Coordinator. BRAG encourages all area residents to attend.
