Suspicious silver vehicles at Pool underscore importance of calling 911

Dear residents,

A recent incident at the Pool serves as a good reminder that if you see something suspicious – say something. Call 911. Without hesitation. The reason: two men, suspicious vehicles, conflicting stories.

According to witnesses, on Friday afternoon, a man in his 20s was parked in the Clubhouse lot for an extended period of time. A resident saw the vehicle and confronted the individual, who claimed to live in the neighborhood and that he was waiting for a friend. The man later was joined by a second man in a separate car, and after rustling in their trunks the two were seen casing the front of the Clubhouse.

The lifeguard staff called 911, and multiple IMPD officers quickly intercepted one of the men near Teel/82 St. The man told officers he used to live in the neighborhood -- different from what he told a resident earlier. No arrests were made, and more importantly, no one was hurt.

But the incident leaves much to be explained. Unfortunately, IMPD never circled back and contacted any of the witnesses or the Board for closure. That’s a disappointment – and a public disservice – the Board is pursuing. In the meantime, we’ll be requesting police drive-throughs and watching our security cameras.

We also ask residents to be on the lookout for a silver Saturn with Illinois plates, #Y993909. The other vehicle involved was a silver Taurus with a protective cover on the license plate. If you see either of these vehicles, please call 911 immediately and report them as suspicious. At least one of the vehicles has been spotted lurking in the Clubhouse lot several days beforehand, so the Board urges caution. This isn’t just a Pool incident – this could have happened on any street or cul-de-sac in our development. We ask all residents to please pass the word and alert your neighbors.

If you’re a resident who owns a silver Saturn with Illinois plates #Y993909 please contact any Board member. We would be happy to answer any questions you may have about the Clubhouse, parking rules, and residents’ desire to keep Eagle Nest a peaceful, trouble-free neighborhood.
