5 things to know about Sunday’s Pool opening (May 30, 2021)

Hello Eagle Nest residents,

The Eagle Nest event many have been waiting for is finally here! No, not the Indy 500 – we’re talking about the 2021 Pool season! Starting at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 30, residents in good standing are welcome to enjoy our neighborhood’s most popular amenity! Of course, the COVID-19 climate and general safety require special attention, so please keep these five things in mind:

No. 1: COVID-19 restrictions. Per mandate of the Marion County Health Department, capacity inside the fence is 75 people so guards may need to limit entrants. In addition, masks are required when entering the bathrooms, and 6-foot social distancing must be observed around non-family. No masks while in the Pool (including the baby pool). Marion County is expected to lift these requirements in early June, but until then we must observe them or risk closure. Lastly, to ensure everyone’s health and safety in the COVID-19 climate, the water slide and basketball hoop will not be available this season.

No. 2: Release forms. Like last season, every household must fill out and sign a COVID-19 release for our files. This form covers everyone in your house and only needs to be done once. Residents in good standing should receive the form with Pool tags via U.S. mail. Simply give your completed form to the lifeguard staff upon entering the facility.

No. 3: Pool tags.
Everyone who enters the Pool must have a current 2021 tag (shown). If you forget it, our guard staff has been instructed to send you home to get it. No exceptions, no excuses. This is to protect our staff, our residents and weed out non-residents. Tags were mailed last weekend, so if they don't arrive by Sunday we'll have a checklist. Other reasons you may not receive tags: unpaid dues, or an outstanding lot violation (i.e., blue garbage cart stored out in the open, for example). Contact Board President Scott Thien at scottthien@comcast.net -- not the Pool staff -- to discuss your tag issue.

No. 4: Pool rules. Please follow them. You will get a copy along with your Pool tags. You also can click here to see the rules on our blog. Violators will be ejected and risk the loss of future Pool access. Our lifeguard staff appreciates your cooperation for everyone’s safety.

No. 5: Hours of operation. Please note the new 2021 Pool hours: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, with the first and last half hour daily* reserved for adult swim. (No adult swim on May 30-31, 2021.)

OTHER POOL NEWS:

SWIMMING LESSONS:
A whopping 97% of residents recently surveyed said they wanted free swimming lessons for their kids conducted by our Pool staff. Watch for a signup sheet under the back deck soon. Lessons are first-come, first-served in the mornings in mid-June; more information will be posted on the blog as soon as it is available.
LIFEGUARDS WANTED!
If you know a lifeguard looking for a great summer job, ask them to email Pool Manager Samantha Burns at samantha.burns51@gmail.com. We pay competitive wages, provide a free staff swimsuit, and lifeguards do not need to be Eagle Nest residents to join our team. And all guards get a free suntan!

We’re excited to see everyone back at the Pool. Have a great summer!

On behalf of the Board and the Pool staff,
