First Annual Eagle Nest Dog Swim draws expert doggy paddlers, lots of laughs

Suffice to say, our First Annual Dog Swim at the Eagle Nest Pool was a splashing success. More than a dozen residents brought their furry family members for a final quick dip after the Pool closed for the season Monday night. We saw big dogs and small dogs, some experienced doggy paddlers (ha!) in the main pool, and some hesitant first-timers in the baby pool.

Dog swims aren’t new; pools across the country host them, usually at the end of swim seasons when water quality isn’t an issue. This was the first time the Eagle Nest Pool has hosted one, though, and it went off without a hitch. No dog fights, no “accidents” floating about, just plenty of laughs and cell phone pics to go around. We even had several non-pet owners bring their kids just to watch the fun.

Thanks to all who turned out and shared in this new tradition. It’s hard to believe another Pool season has ended, but we hope to announce more community events soon to carry us through the fall and winter months. If you have ideas or want to volunteer and help organize, please email scottthien@comcast.net.

We hope everyone had a happy and safe Labor Day. Have a great rest of the week!

On behalf of the Board,
Scott Thien, President
