Board Update: Annual dues reminder, 2022 social events, fixing those dangerous potholes, trash carts and more

REMINDER: PAY YOUR ANNUAL DUES BY MAY 1

A quick thank you to the nearly 150 residents – about one-third of the neighborhood -- who have paid annual dues so far. As a reminder, invoices were mailed in mid-February to all lot owners and are payable by May 1. Your prompt payments help keep the streetlights on, grounds maintained and our Clubhouse and other community assets in top shape. If you didn’t receive your dues invoice in the U.S. mail or via email, please contact Secretary/Admin Lead Chris’e Van Meter at enpoa_sec@att.net. And don’t forget to include your Pool tags request form on the back of the dues letter when you submit your payment.

2022 SOCIAL EVENTS CALENDAR SHAPING UP

With winter quickly coming to a close (fingers crossed no more snow!), the Board is ramping up another great year of social events for our residents, both kids and adults! More details will be coming soon, but for now save these dates:

  • April 16: Annual Easter Egg hunt at the Clubhouse
  • May 1: Sports courts unlocked for the season
  • May 5: Crime Watch meeting
  • May 30: Pool opens (including free swim lessons!)
  • June 3-4: Neighborhood Garage Sale
  • June 12: Annual Meeting and Board elections

We also look forward to another great lineup of food trucks and Family Fun Nights with Jet’s Pizza this summer. Be sure to bookmark our blog Events page for more key event dates, and make plans to join us! Want to help plan events? Contact Scott Thien or Chris’e Van Meter.

TIRED OF NEIGHBORHOOD POTHOLES? HOW YOU CAN HELP

If you have two minutes, the Board asks for a small favor on behalf of the neighborhood: Email or call our City-County Council District 4 representative Ethan Evans and implore him to lean on the Department of Public Works to fill the dangerous potholes in our development. It would be great if you could contact our Mayor Neighborhood representative Natalie Van Dongen, too.

It’s been nearly two months since the Board filed pothole repair requests for the growing pit at our Hague Road entrance, the growing series of craters in the 7900 block of Tanager Lane and nearly two dozen other spots. And yet, still no action by the city. It’s time to reach out to our elected representative. If Evans and Van Dongen can’t help move the needle, the Board suggests you remember their effectiveness during the next municipal election.

Contact Evans at Ethan.Evans2@indy.gov and 317-327-4242, and Van Dongen at Natalie.VanDongen@Indy.Gov and 317-327-5121.

THE CONNECTION BETWEEN POOL TAGS AND TRASH CARTS

A gentle reminder – again – to put your trash and recycling roll carts away after Tuesday collections (ideally in your garage or in the back of your home). It’s not just a courtesy to keep our neighborhood from looking trashy -- our Declarations of Restrictions (Section 5F) prohibit storing trash receptacles within view of the development.

We know life is busy, and that sometimes residents forget to properly square away their carts. That’s why we’ve mailed courtesy reminder cards to several of you (with limited success in getting compliance). So, please heed our warning: If you don’t properly stow your garbage and recycling carts, you risk losing your Pool tags for the 2022 swim season and loss of Clubhouse rental privileges, per our controlling documents. We hope it won’t come to that, of course. Please don’t be one of “those” neighbors. Thank you for your cooperation!

OTHER NEWS:

STREET LIGHT REPLACED: As you may have noticed,  IPL finally replaced the downed street light in the 7800 block of Teel Way. The replacement took longer than expected, of course, due largely to the winter weather and insurance processing by the responsible motorist. Moving forward, if you see a downed or darkened street light, please contact any Board member or report directly to IPL by calling 317-261-8111. Thank you.
