Board update week of Aug. 29: Pool closure schedule, new BBQ food truck, new whiskey tasting event

LAST CALL FOR LAST SWIM: POOL SEASON ENDS LABOR DAY
Sadly, all good things come to an end, including our 2022 Pool season. It’s been a great – and safe – run, thanks to our friendly and dedicated lifeguard staff and Pool Manager Samantha Burns. Except for two days, we have been open daily the entire season, a claim not all area pools can make because of staffing shortages (including the nearby city-operated Sahm Park Aquatics Center). But not Eagle Nest! So, as you take that last dip in the pool the Labor Day holiday weekend, please be sure to thank our pool staff for their hard work this year.

Our remaining hours of operation for 2022:
  • Monday-Friday, Aug. 29 to Sept. 2, 4 to 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, Sept. 3, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Sunday, Sept. 4, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Monday, Sept. 5 (Labor Day), 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

LABOR DAY DOG SWIM: CALLING ALL PUPPIES TO THE POOL
Our 2nd annual Eagle Nest Dog Swim is set for 8-9 p.m. Sept. 5, immediately after the Pool closes to residents for the season. Like last year’s inaugural event, all dog owners in the development are welcome to bring their pets to the pool for a splashing good time. Even if you don’t have a dog in the hunt (ha), bring the kids down to watch our furry friends demonstrate legit dog paddle swimming styles!

We will have a lifeguard on duty, so residents are welcome to join their pets in the water. No aggressive animals will be permitted, and all patrons are subject to our published Pool rules. (Event weather permitting.)

FOOD TRUCK TUESDAY, AUG. 30: IT’S SMOKEY BLUE BBQ!
Forget the evening dinner scramble – we have the perfect fix: Smokey Blue BBQ, coming Tuesday, Aug. 30, from 6-8 p.m. to the Clubhouse! Smokey Blue BBQ is well-known across our area for its high-end craft BBQ, pulled pork and chicken with all the sides, including green beans with bacon, mac and cheese, loaded fries and street corn. They even have SoCal-style BBQ burritos. Yep, and they are fantastic!

Smokey Blue is a new to our food truck rotation, and we’re sure their Texas-style menu and original sauces will be a resident favorite (return stops are scheduled set for Sept. 27 and Oct. 25, btw.) Want to know more? Click here to see their recent appearance on Fox59! Catch them on Facebook and Instagram, too.

NEW EVENT SEPT. 30: SIPPIN’ IN SEPTEMBER WHISKEY TASTING
There’s a first time for everything – like a whiskey tasting event at the Clubhouse! We’re calling it Sippin’ in September, and it’s a great opportunity for our neighborhood whiskey fans to get together, learn the history of the spirit, sample different bottles, enjoy some light appetizers and have fun with friends, old and new. Join us Sept. 30, 7-9 p.m.!

This will be a chill, adults-only event with a schedule, so you will get the best experience (i.e., more samples) if you can be there when it begins. The Uber ride home is short, so feel free to stay as long as you want!

Not a whiskey person? No biggie, just bring your beverage of choice and hang out with some great people having a great time. Afterall, it is a Friday – why not have a little neighborhood party? Click here to sign up!

IT’S TUESDAY NIGHT, DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR TRASH CART IS?
Nobody likes a trashy look, especially when it comes to our neighborhood. And so, a gentle reminder to put your trash and recycling carts away after Tuesday collections (ideally in your garage or behind your home). It’s not just a courtesy to keep our neighborhood from looking nasty -- our Declarations of Restrictions (Section 5F) prohibit storing trash receptacles within view of the development.

A recent neighborhood review revealed more than two dozen residents routinely disregard the rules we all agreed to when we moved into Eagle Nest. So as a gentle nudge, the Board this month mailed two dozen postcard notices to those non-compliant residents asking for their cooperation. If you received a postcard, please be good neighbors and put your carts away. Leaving them out isn’t a good look for your property, or our neighborhood.

QUESTIONS, CONCERNS? We want to hear from you. As always, feel free to contact any Board member. Like you, we’re residents, too, and we want your ideas to ensure Eagle Nest remains the best development around!

On behalf of the Board,
Scott Thien, President
