Family Fun Night of s'mores Friday, Oct. 28! Also coming: chili cookoff, and cookies with Santa!

Family Fun Night with S’mores, Friday, Oct. 28, at the Clubhouse

Friday, Oct. 28, looks like a perfect fall night, so the Social Committee is hosting a Family Fun Night of s’mores for kids at the Clubhouse! That’s right, from 6 to 8 p.m. our little Eagle Nesters can make and toast their own chocolate and marshmallow treats (and adults can have a seasonal beer to help pass the time). Just bring a chair and enjoy a relaxing – and tasty – evening in the parking lot with other residents. Want to help? Contact Social Chair Brigette Stephens at bestephens4@gmail.com.

More social events are coming to the Clubhouse, too:

Nov. 6: Chili Cookoff and Colts Watch Party. Bring a crockpot of your best chili, win a gift card based on resident votes. Tastings begin at noon, voting starts at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6. Don’t want to enter? Don’t worry – just stop by for free samples of homecooked goodness, cast your vote and watch the Colts-Patriots game (chili event ends at halftime). Condiments like crackers, onions, and shredded cheese will be provided, along with lemonade and seasonal beers (We buried the lead, right?) See you there!

Dec. 3: Cookies, Donuts and Coffee (with Baileys) with Santa. Yep, the holidays will be here before you know it (Christmas is less than two months away!), so we’re excited to announce the jolly old guy is coming to our Clubhouse on Saturday, Dec. 3. This will be the perfect holiday card photo opportunity! The timing of Santa’s afternoon arrival is still in the works, but while we wait families are invited to come decorate holiday cookies, snack on donuts and enjoy hot chocolate and coffee (with Baileys for adults). Watch the blog for more information in the weeks ahead. Save the date and plan to join us!

Halloween hours and reminders

As Monday, Oct. 31, approaches, a few Halloween reminders for residents:
  • Traditional observance hours are 6 to 8 p.m., as announced by the City of Indianapolis.
  • The Board has no control over trick or treaters who ring bells before or after those hours – that’s in the hands of parents and unaccompanied children we hope respect our privacy (and lawns) outside those hours.
  • Please use caution when driving through the neighborhood, as excited kids are known to unexpectedly dart across streets – especially when word gets out about houses giving out full-size candy bars!
  • If you experience or witness vandalism, please call 911 immediately. As the adage goes, “If you see something, say something.”
Clubhouse rental dates filling up fast

If you’re looking to host a holiday party at our popular Clubhouse, contact facility manager Kelly Dentler asap, as only two weekend dates remain open the rest of this year. They are Nov. 26 and 27.

Good news is, all weekdays Monday through Friday are open – and at half the price! New Year’s Eve also is available, but probably not for long so if interested contact Kelly asap. Click here to see our Clubhouse rental rates and rules.

Wanted: Crime Watch Coordinator

Are you interested in keeping Eagle Nest a safe and secure place to live? Have a desire to be a liaison with local law enforcement and public safety officials on behalf of the neighborhood? Are you a people person who enjoys engaging with residents? We have a role for you! The Board is looking for a Crime Watch Coordinator to pick up where longtime resident and former coordinator Carolyn Goldenetz left off.

We’re on the hunt for someone who can organize and schedule quarterly Crime Watch meetings (attendance perks include free food and prizes!); arrange guest speakers and presentations on safety; develop resources about safety and security to share with residents; and provide neighborhood updates, as needed. We’re open to new ideas, too. Contact any Board member to apply. Let’s talk!

One more thing …
Storm drains: Now that fall is here, so are those rainy days. Do your neighbors a favor and keep the gutter drains clear of leaves and other debris so we avoid flash flooding in the streets.

On behalf of the Board,
Scott Thien, President
