Dec. 10: Resident meeting to discuss covenant revisions. Other neighborhood news: Cookies with Santa, leaf pickup, new garbage carts
On Wednesday, Dec. 10, the Board of
Directors invites all Eagle Nest residents to attend a neighborhood meeting at
the Clubhouse to discuss proposed changes to the Association’s controlling
documents in 2026.
The revisions, developed by our legal counsel KSN, include updated language to address rental properties, prohibited vehicles, parking rules, and proper storage of unsightly garbage carts – most frequent complaints from residents.
The purpose of the town hall: Share highlights of the proposed changes and receive resident feedback before a resident vote early next year. In order to pass, a majority of residents need to approve the changes to our covenants, which haven’t been updated since originally recorded with the city of Indianapolis in the mid-1970s.
Suffice it to say, the Board thinks it’s time to reflect more modern times by fostering a more welcoming, safe and desirable residential environment that helps grow everyone’s property values. We hope you agree and will join us.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.,
immediately after the December Board meeting at 6 p.m. Light refreshments will
be provided.
Please RSVP by emailing scottthien@comcast.net and indicate the number of attendees so we can plan refreshments accordingly.

Christmas is only five weeks away -- are you ready? Your friendly Social Committee is – we’ve confirmed that Santa and Mrs. Claus will return to our Eagle Nest Clubhouse for our popular Cookies with Santa event!
Save the date: Sunday, Dec. 21 (time TBA). Per tradition, we’ll have cookies and cupcakes for our neighborhood littles to decorate, coffee, punch and other refreshments, as well as plenty of time to sit on Santa’s lap and share those holiday wishes. Social Co-chairs Sarah Craney and Marcella Kates welcome volunteers for setup and support, so if interested please email them at mssarahjourdan@gmail.com and marcellakates@gmail.com. Watch the blog for more details in the weeks ahead!
City leaf pickup now through Dec. 10
Thankfully, the city of Indianapolis has us covered! Now through Dec. 10, the city will collect up to 40 bags of leaves per household on our regular trash day (Tuesdays). A few things to keep in mind:
- Use plastic bags, as paper bags can deteriorate and break apart in inclement weather. (If paper bags break during pickup, collection crews don't always clean up the mess.)
- Keep bags at least 3 feet away from your trash cart for easy pickup.
- Leaf bags should be outside by 7 a.m. on trash day.
About those new gray garbage carts ...
As you probably noticed, many Eagle Nest residents received
their new gray garbage cart this week, courtesy of the city’s new service
provider, Lakeshore Recycling Services (LRS).
According to the rain-soaked, wind-blown flyers found throughout the neighborhood:
According to the rain-soaked, wind-blown flyers found throughout the neighborhood:
- Cart delivery will continue through the end of the year.
- Begin using your new cart when you receive it, and stop using the blue one from Republic.
- Continue to put your empty blue cart at the curb each trash day until it is retrieved (allow up to three weeks, DPW says).
- Republic’s blue and yellow-top recycling carts will be replaced in 2028.
- Questions? Contact the Mayor’s Action Center at 317-327-4622 or visit indy.gov/trash
A reminder that contractor yard signs – plumbing, heating and cooling, yard services, etc. – are not permitted outside normal business hours. Sure, we all want to see our property values maintained through improvements and lot maintenance, but we have to balance that neighborhood signage policy filed in 2021. The objective? Maintain a residential community free of commercial advertising and vendor promotions.
Whether you’re a new or long-term resident, the Board kindly asks that you click here to familiarize yourself with the
Association’s signage policy. Questions? Contact Board President Scott Thien at
scottthien@comcast.net.
Don’t have enough room to host all your family and friends for Christmas? Rent our Clubhouse! The facility is available on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (holiday rates apply). Our Eagle Nest Euchre Group is looking to expand! No enrollment fee or group membership required – simply a love for the game and getting to know fellow neighbors. Our group meets at 6:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month at the Clubhouse. Please text resident Brandy Schneider at 317-522-6061 with any questions.
On behalf of the Board,
Scott Thien, President
