Annual Holiday Lights Contest brightens the Nest (see our top winners list!)

Neighbors made an extra effort this year to decorate for the holidays, with the top four homes in our Holiday Lights Contest showing exceptional creativity and spirit.

On Christmas eve, our secret panel of judges canvassed the neighborhood looking for the best displays. The following homes took top honors:


First Place: 8133 Bittern Lane ($50 gift card)


Second Place: 8250 Warbler Way ($40 gift card)


Tied for Third Place: 7909 Teel Way (above left) and 8015 Bittern Lane. ($25 gift card each)

Honorable mentions go to:

The Christmas displays are a bright fixture in the neighborhood this time of year. We're lucky – and grateful – to have neighbors who make the extra effort to light up the “Nest” in this special way.

82 nd Street road construction closure April 7-15 According to an April 2 release from the City of Indianapolis, 82 nd Street will be closed starting Monday, April 7, to Tuesday, April 15, between Craig Street and Castleton Road (basically between Speedway and Sparkling Image) for Nickel Plate Trail construction and railroad track removal. Board Update: Pool Party with free food, new fob access, cleanup crew recap; Annual Garage Sale June 7-8; dues deadlines approaching and more!

Hello, Eagle Nesters! The Board hopes your spring is off to a great start. It’s hard to believe with all the cold, rainy weather of April that the Pool will be open in barely a month. In preparation for that, it’s time to share a few updates about the 2024 swim season: Nearly a dozen residents turn out to deep clean the Pool A huge thanks goes out to the volunteer team led by Bittern Lane residents John and Cindy Spicklemire for organizing a deep clean of Pool facility on Saturday, April 27. The team of 12 spent hours power washing the chairs to address years of sunblock stains and removing wall grime, while others pulled weeds, cleaned the tables and swept up debris. In return, the Board brought in Jimmy John’s sandwiches, chips and water to keep our cleaning crew fueled up. That was a small price to pay for what would have cost thousands of dollars in labor and time to hire a contractor to do the same work. Board Update May 2025: Pool fob details, dues reminder, 2024 homes sales prices, Board election reminder, 82nd St. closure

Pool opening, fob activation on target for May 25 Hard to believe with the recent cooler temperatures that our Pool is scheduled to open in less than three weeks! But when we do, Pool Manager Samantha Burns reports we should be at full staff! That means our fantastic facility will be open daily from noon to 8 p.m. through most of August! Now would be a good time to locate your Pool security access fob so you have it ready on opening day. Keep in mind, your fob will only work if your annual dues have been paid (and no you can’t pay the same day and expect to get in, as it takes a few days to process.) If you’re new to Eagle Nest since last September, please contact Board Vice President Jason Van Meter at jpvanmeter@sbcglobal.net to make arrangements to secure your fob. (Sorry, one fob per lot.)
